Lu Heyan paused slightly, a realization dawning on him. A gleam flashed in his eyes, but he showed nothing more.
Soon, Lu Heyan's phone received several more photos, which he forwarded to Shen Weilan.
Weilan looked down at her phone; inside were photos of Qiao Jingchen, her twenty-nine-year-old brother, who now appeared haggard and seemed to have aged several years all at once, looking as if he had lost his luster.
The more she looked, the more shocking it became.
Weilan's heart was in turmoil.
Lu Heyan got another call, listened to it, and then said to Weilan, "He still won't see you, Weilan. Go ahead, I'll have someone work on Qiao Jingchen's mindset. Once he agrees, we'll come right away."
Weilan hung her head and nodded. "Thank you, you go first."
"I'll take you," Lu Heyan offered.
"No need, I'll walk on my own," Weilan said, and then turned to leave.
Lu Heyan opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing.
