Lu Hechen carried Shen Weilan upstairs, her within his embrace, the scent of his body filling her nostrils. He had just taken a shower, and his clean fragrance, mixed with the sweet scent of shower gel, felt cool and soothing.
Weilan sneaked a glance at him, only to find his gaze burning intensely upon her.
Feeling as if she had been caught, Weilan tugged at her lips and lowered her eyes.
"What's the matter?" Lu Hechen's deep voice resonated beside her ear.
Weilan immediately shook her head, "No, nothing."
Lu Hechen stopped on the stairs and looked at her, saying, "Speak up, don't hem and haw. I liked it when you were straightforward. This hesitancy is something I'm not quite used to."
Made to feel even more awkward by his words, Weilan looked up into his eyes and pursed her lips, "I'm fine, let's go upstairs."
"Weilan..." Lu Hechen murmured her name, then suddenly halted, the words he was about to say ultimately remaining unspoken.
