It was unclear how much time had passed when Song Weiyi, after a few gentle sobs, finally ceased crying, her nose and eyes left reddened and swollen, looking both pitiful and adorable.
She lifted her head, her gaze inadvertently meeting Pei Yibai's.
Song Weiyi's face flushed with warmth; she had no idea how long she had been crying.
She was not a crybaby, but thoughts of her mother's plight sent her emotions spiraling out of control. She wondered if Pei Yibai found her annoying.
"Done crying?" Pei Yibai asked in a gentle voice. As a breeze blew by, he hugged her even tighter.
Song Weiyi felt a little guilty but also comforted, and she nodded slightly, not daring to look straight at Pei Yibai's expression or to answer him loudly.
"Going to cry some more?" Pei Yibai asked again.
How strange, she thought to herself. She said she was done crying, and yet he's still asking if she'll cry again. Who does that?
