Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Council's Concerns

Back at the Reclaimers' base, Sofia and the team reported their findings to the Reclaimer Council, a group of experienced leaders responsible for overseeing missions and maintaining order. The Council's chamber was a large, circular room with a high ceiling, filled with holographic displays showing portal activity and mission reports.

Leo stood beside Sofia as she presented the artifact shard they had recovered from the southern portal. The Council members listened intently, their expressions varying from curiosity to concern.

"This shard was embedded in one of the creatures we encountered," Sofia explained. "It has the same energy signature as the artifact Leo touched in our previous mission. This could indicate a connection between the portals and these energy sources."

One of the Council members, a stern-looking man named Marcus Grant, leaned forward. "Are you suggesting that these creatures are somehow linked to the artifacts? That they might be protecting them or being controlled by them?"

"We're not sure yet," Sofia replied. "But it's possible. We need to conduct more research to understand the implications."

Another Council member, a woman named Eleanor Hayes, spoke up. "And what about Leo Rivers? His sudden increase in power is unusual, even for artifact-related anomalies. Is he a threat to the team?"

Leo felt a twinge of apprehension. The Council's skepticism was understandable, but he couldn't help feeling like he was under a microscope.

Sofia defended him. "Leo's powers have been instrumental in our missions. He's shown remarkable skill and adaptability. I believe we should continue to monitor his progress and determine how his abilities might help us."

Marcus Grant remained unconvinced. "We can't afford to take risks. If his powers are unstable, it could endanger everyone. I suggest we limit his participation in high-risk missions until we know more."

Eleanor Hayes nodded in agreement. "I concur. We need to prioritize the safety of the team. Leo's powers may be useful, but we must exercise caution."

Sofia glanced at Leo, her eyes conveying a silent message of reassurance. "We'll proceed with caution, but Leo has earned his place on the team. He understands the risks, and he's willing to work with us to uncover the truth."

The Council ultimately agreed to proceed with caution, allowing Leo to continue his missions under Sofia's supervision. The meeting adjourned, and the team returned to the base to regroup.
