Regarding Shariputra, Ye Fan had only heard about it through hearsay. It was said that after a highly accomplished monk was cremated, their remains could include bone fragments and gem-like substances, also known as Buddhist bones and Buddhist Shariputra. The shapes of Shariputra varied—round, oval, lotus-shaped, etc., and so did the colors: white, black, green, red, and so forth, resembling jewels.
The formation of Shariputra was closely related to the practitioner's cultivation during their lifetime. Shariputra was said to be formed through the cultivation of discipline, meditation, and wisdom, combined with the individual's immense resolve, making it extremely precious. As for understanding Shariputra, Ye Fan knew this much, but he was unclear about the details and had never seen the actual relic.
After all, Shariputra is a sacred treasure of Buddhism, and it is very difficult to come by.
