Chen Ze looked at the sundae with mixed feelings but, after some thought, he decided to first serve the two cheesecakes he had prepared.
As soon as he stepped out, Chen Ze saw Sebastian drooling and Riesel with an interested look on his face, which made him subconsciously shrink his shoulders.
Although he knew his restaurant seemed to have a Magic Circle that could protect him, facing the two Dragons, Chen Ze admitted he still felt quite pressured.
Riesel poked the cheesecake curiously, certain it was his first encounter with such a dessert. None of the many cities he had visited in his travels had offered anything like it.
He also understood why Sebastian liked the cooking at this restaurant so much, as the enchanting aroma was indeed very fragrant, making him involuntarily swallow his saliva.
Sebastian picked up a knife and fork and quickly cut into the cake, stuffing it into his mouth. It was the same familiar taste, but unlike last time, it didn't melt in his mouth immediately.
This left Sebastian a bit puzzled, but it didn't affect the taste of the cake itself.
The cheesecake was small in portion, so it wasn't long before both pieces were finished. Sebastian wiped the crumbs from the corner of his mouth and, looking at Riesel, smugly said, "How about that, Riesel, my recommendation isn't bad, right?"
"I find it quite ordinary, aside from the novelty of the cake." Riesel shook his head. The aroma and texture of the cake had surprised him, but other than that, there was nothing particularly remarkable.
"Hah? I think you just don't appreciate it. This cheesecake is so unique, eating it feels like, like eating semi-solidified lava!" Sebastian said, looking disdainfully at Riesel.
Riesel didn't want to speak and just rolled his eyes.
As a Golden Dragon, Riesel, unlike Sebastian, the Black Dragon, didn't spend his lifetime in the Negative Plane, too afraid to venture to the Prime Material Plane. Riesel had once transformed into a human and visited many of their cities, having tasted delicacies that Sebastian couldn't compare to.
Chen Ze stood silently to the side. He agreed with Riesel's words, as he too believed that the cake was edible but by no means could it be considered delicious.
"A barely passable cake" was indeed an objective evaluation.
Chen Ze didn't expect to produce a masterpiece that could compare with the works of the world's top pastry chefs, at least not currently. Whether it was the ingredients for making the cake, the methods, or other small details, Chen Ze knew he was far from matching those renowned chefs.
It seems that the otherworld is not completely devoid of fine cuisine after all.
Chen Ze smiled and served the Buffet, placing it in front of the two Dragons.
The gaze of Sebastian and Riesel was instantly captured by the Buffet on the left, staring at it as if they were seeing mountains of treasures piled before them.
"Ssss... What is this?" Sebastian couldn't help but gape, black drool slowly dripping onto the floor.
Chen Ze looked at the pool of black liquid, fighting the urge to rush over and clean it up—it was all money!
"I remember, the owner mentioned before that this is supposedly a sundae? French style sundae buffet?" Riesel quickly answered Sebastian's question, but his eyes remained fixed on the Buffet.
For some reason, though both servings were Buffet, the one on the left seemed particularly dragon-tempting. Just one glance at it, and Riesel felt an urgent craving to eat it.
Chen Ze looked at the two servings of Buffet on the table. To him, there didn't seem to be any difference between them; perhaps the additional attributes were of no use to him.
"Riesel, do you remember? When your chieftain beat you up, it was I who took you into my home. I kept it a secret from your chieftain and got a face full of his spit, so…" Sebastian patted Riesel on the shoulder.
"Hah, Sebastian, you have the nerve to mention that? You'd sell me out in a heartbeat for the Eye of the Storm," Riesel knew exactly what Sebastian wanted to say, so he retorted immediately.
"Dammit! I had intended to refuse, but, but that Eye of the Storm was just too big…"
"Didn't I help you out last time you went to old Lao Gu's place to dismantle the Bone Dragon he raised? Otherwise, you'd have ended up drained by Lao Gu and turned into a zombie dragon," Riesel delivered the fatal blow.
At the mention of this, Sebastian had nothing to say and could only grit his teeth, taking the Buffet on the right into his hands, trying hard not to look at the particularly tempting Buffet.
Riesel took the Buffet on the left with relish, grasped the spoon on top, scooped up a spoonful, and put it into his mouth, only to have his eyes widen in amazement.
An exceptionally unique flavor; Riesel had never tasted such food before. Chilled yet mushy, with a wonderful sweetness—compared to the Chilled Red Cloud Fruit eaten by the Elf Race, this Buffet was even more delicious.
Just like a cloud, Riesel thought that this food, which looked as white as clouds, tasted very much to his liking.
Riesel picked up the spoon and examined it carefully; there were some peculiar fruits on top of this sundae. Though not as tasty as the fruits carefully cultivated by the Elf Race, they added a unique flavor.
And… This black stuff, looking like dirt, matched perfectly with the white clouds! Riesel ate with a face full of satisfaction, he hadn't enjoyed food like this for a long time.
As for Sebastian, he no longer had the spare energy to envy Riesel. Although his Buffet didn't have the boost of those two random attributes, the craftsmanship and taste were basically consistent, so he was now utterly lost in the deliciousness of his Buffet.
Chen Ze stood quietly in the kitchen, observing the expressions of enjoyment on the two dragons' faces, and he felt an innate happiness.
"So it turns out, watching the satisfied expressions on customers' faces is such a delightful thing," Chen Ze looked down at the cookbook in the kitchen and began to see the opening remarks in a new light.
"I still need to improve my cooking skills; what I've made so far doesn't really satisfy me," Chen Ze shook his head. Before, he had tasted the Buffet he made himself. It was edible, but not exactly palate-pleasing.
Riesel patted his stomach; he felt as though he had eaten something, but was still hungry. After all, the food hadn't even filled the gaps between his teeth.
But eating the same thing too much could get tiresome. Riesel glanced at Sebastian, who hadn't spoken a word, also looking unsatisfied.
"Manager, the two dishes you prepared are delicious. It's time for me to pay you," Riesel said contentedly, taking a stone tablet out of his bosom and placing it on the table.
Looking at the stone tablet, Chen Ze was a bit puzzled. Could it be that the other world didn't even have paper? Are spells still recorded on stone tablets?
Perhaps I should teach them something called papermaking?
