As the rational side of the Primeval Elves and the abandoned Savior, such an ending was simply too absurd and desolate, especially with Shuangxi watching silently on the side... watching the Obstacle God rummaging through someone else's belongings.
Come to think of it, isn't this behavior exactly that of a real "player?"
After entering the game world, they'd burst into an NPC's house, rummage through their chests and wardrobes to loot items, take everything including the door off its hinges to sell for money, and if the theft was discovered by the guards, they'd simply whip out a weapon, slay the guards, and declare, "All things are my things," before killing the village chicken that was watching the spectacle on the roadside.
Shuangxi, "In the future, when I play games, I must be a kind person."
Obstacle God, "My dear Saint, did you say something?"
Shuangxi, "...I said, weren't you going to steal the Primeval Elves' ashes? Why are you here..."
