After entering the cave, Chaoyang saw that the path under his feet was covered with planks, and many oil lamps hung on both sides of the tunnel. The ground and walls were extremely damp, and droplets of water occasionally dripped from above, creating a loud ticking noise that resonated distinctly within the cave.
He remembered that Bariff's work log mentioned that the cave often got flooded with seawater.
The thick rubber hoses laid aside were probably the pumping equipment. This was quite similar to the working environment in mines—once a flooding accident occurred, waiting for the water to naturally recede was unrealistic; it could only be drained using a pump to resume work.
"Tell me, what's the situation now?" Chaoyang casually asked.
"Not much progress. The seepage gets more severe the further north we go; ordinary people can't get through that flooded area," the man shook his head. "Did Gleck Academy send the blasting design diagram?"
"Haven't received it yet."
