The furnishings in the room were very simple, or rather... very cheap. Aside from the hard board bed, there was only a stool and a beat-up low table.
The two sat facing each other, one on the stool and the other on the edge of the bed, with a freshly brewed green tea in between them. The scent of the tea wafted up with the steam, slightly dispelling the musty smell in the air.
"Are you short of money?" Walter asked, frowning, after a long gaze.
"Are you referring to... why I'm living in a place like this?" Dane smiled and took a sip from his teacup. "It's because I'm used to it. When I was doing investigations in the Royal Capital, I often rented places nearby. The area was densely populated, identities were complicated, and there were many alleys, good for a quick escape if trouble arose. As for you... how did you find this place?"
