Chapter 1 - the recurring nightmare

"Good morning soso" jays mother said with a sunshine smile as she ruffles his hair to show affection to jay "good morning ma!" Jay replied with the same type of smile, happy to see his mom knowing he doesn't see her often because of her job.

"How did u sleep, soso, have any nightmares?" Jay's mom always called him soso it was a nickname she gave him when he was younger.

Jay was going to answer with a simple good, but the words didn't want to come out knowing he couldn't lie to his own mom

"..." Jay stayed silent just with jay not answering his mom knew something was wrong "soso?"

As jays mom looked at him she knew he had the same recurring nightmare this so called nightmare is of when Jay was younger he would wake up with scratches on his back, arms, stomach, or legs didn't matter how he slept or where he would always wake up with scratches until one day he didn't sleep through the whole night he wanted to find out where he got these scratches from but little Jay didn't know what consequences this little act would cause, jay now just wished he took the scratches and didn't stay up but what can he do now, little Jay was a very curious kid so he waited and waited just sitting but nothing happened so he tried a different strategy he would pretend to be asleep of course this wouldn't be easy because of how jittery he was but he was determined so he layed there until he heard something a creek like footsteps but of course with his eyes closed he couldn't look without revealing himself so he stayed still and with his eyes closed, just as he stopped hearing the footsteps he heard a creek like a door opening then he heard humming like a lullaby but not a comforting lullaby more of a disturbing one

"I've been looking for you my whole life my sweet baby boy still as cute as the day I saw you in their arms waiting for the time I can take you home with me and away from these people you might see me as a monster but you will be one too when your older" just with those word Jay could feel a presence over him wanting to cry but can't in fear of what might happen if they see he stayed quiet as he was about to open his eyes he felt a claw caressed his face going down his ear to his neck back up to his face as then 'slit' he felt as this intruder cut his cheek a making a little blood drip down his face as he tried so desperately to stay calm and quiet he felt a finger thought his face one without a claw it seems 'swip' as the intruder whipped his blood off his face with their finger then as he thought they left he peeked a little just to see them standing right over the door standing still but this intruder wasn't a person it was a monster it was a somewhat shadow but you could still tell what it looked like no one could forget it.

this monster had its spine sticking out of there back has long yet kind of greasy looking hair, was tall there head touched the ceiling kind of scraping it jay looked at it like he was in a trance he couldn't look away but something broke that trance that something was the monster turning around fast and its piercing red eyes with its mouth split open, and a skull mask covering most of its face, it somewhat resemble a wendigo and just as the monster started running at him and reached out his vision would go black and he would wake up. The scratches stopped after that but now and then he would remember the lullaby it was something he never wanted to hear again.

this memory was something he never figured out he was always scared to sleep in fear he would see this nightmare again he knew his mom knew about it but he knew she would just tell him it was a nightmare and it never happened he never told his mom of what exactly happened that night sure he was a kid but he was a smart kid he knew his mom had a lot on her plate his dad wasn't in the picture anymore and he didn't want to worry her so she never really did know the only thing she knew was that he was scared to stay alone in the dark ever since that night she never knew why thought and jay hoped she never will.

"Soso did u have a nightmare? tell me the truth" jays mom said Jay looked out of it after he said it was fine he looked like he wasn't feeling well

"Yes, mama don't worry about it" jay said to his mother then just as his mom was about to say something else their alarm went off to remind him to finish up and head out for school Jay exhaled as if he was holding his breath for awhile

"Alright mama I got to go sorry we can't hang out more" jay said as he hugged his mom "goodbye"

"Bye soso, I love you" jays mom said worried about what her son was experiencing.

As jay close the door and went started to walk to school, he couldn't help but space out.
