Rather than stepping through the portal to the other side and claiming another overlord, Zack made a choice to close the portal instead after defeating the guardian. He sealed it shut, prioritizing immediate safety and secrecy over anything else.
Zack's main goal wasn't to pursue another overlord. His focus had shifted from chasing elusive overlord confrontations to exploring other avenues that might lead him to the magical knowledge he needed. The dangerous encounters and the uncertain gains from the overlords seemed less appealing compared to his broader quest for understanding. Zack was determined to find a more reliable and insightful path to mastering magic.
