Chapter 31 - Pillars

Adonis took a deep breath in then without any further hesitation, placed his hand on the statue before him.

The jewels and runes embedded within immediately lit up as the echo of a dragon's roar could be heard.

An illusory screen appeared before him.

It hit both Uncle Seth and Adonis at once. Unlike what most would expect, Adonis didn't feel sad, no, in fact, he felt jubilant.

Wasn't this what he wanted? To not be defined by the world and fate itself?

If he was so talentless, didn't it mean he would be able to build himself as he saw fit, just like he did his mind? The Heavens truly did favour him.

On the other hand, Uncle Seth fell into deep thought, his face scrunched into a frown.

'It makes no sense. If before I wasn't sure, now I am. The bastard messed with his body. But why would he do that to his own son…he's never been cold hearted so why would he…'

Just like Adonis, he didn't care about his lack of talent. With him here, did it even matter? It was even better this way.

No, what left him feeling uneasy was Adonis' affinities. Just by mere virtue of their existence, all of Adonis' pillars should've been Quasi-Immeasurable and he should have at least one talent.

The talent pillar referred to gifts outside the scope of the other pillars like for example a unique pair of eyes, a blessing, a spirit companion or something of the like.

It was quite literally impossible for Adonis' pillar to be built this way. It was even more shocking to him when he saw Adonis' race.

As expected, he'd found out Adonis was a Spiritual, just like his mother but this didn't make sense.

A Nadyr spiritual meant the lowest spiritual. It was the weakest and trashiest branch of their race and considering his mother surely wasn't anywhere near the bottom, this didn't make any sense.

'I'll trust you for now, Caesar.'

Adonis clicked on his affinities and another screen popped up.

It was now Uncle Seth's turn to grin as he saw this. He looked toward Adonis and smiled even more as he saw his determination and excitement he emanated.

"Kid, there's no need to worry about your talent. With me here, it's only gonna be a matter of time before you're at the top with all the monsters."

"Trust me, believe in yourself and all will be good." He added as he patted his back.

Adonis nodded.

"Why can't I feel or use my elements though?"

"Well, you have no qi roots and without qi roots, you can't awaken and if you don't awaken, your elements will remain dormant forever."

"Fuck."

"Don't worry, didn't I tell you I had everything covered? You'll use your first wish to get a set of meridians and qi roots which should bring your bodily pillar to a decent level. It all depends on the level of the meridians and qi roots you get."

"After that, overtime, we'll plan more and more ways to upgrade your talents. In a year, tops, you'll be a different beast."

****

Once this was decided, they didn't waste any more time.

The two now stood in the same grand hall they'd been in but this time, it was filled with golden clouds of energy that oozed of power and peace.

Amidst these clouds, butterflies flew and danced around as overall, an aura of harmony radiated off the place.

"I'd like to claim my first wish."

[The true Heir has spoken. Ask away, master.]

"I want a pair of meridians and qi roots. The best you can give me…please?"

[The Wish has been granted.]

In front of Adonis, a beautiful interlinked network of jewels appeared, so beautiful, he immediately lost himself within.

He didn't have time to snap out of it as his mind fell into deep slumber and his body began to melt alongside the network of jewels, the two fusing to form something new.

Everything about Adonis' body was destroyed and liquified then slowly rebuilt.

As the base, thousands of jewels stood, interconnected among themselves but also to his newly forming nervous system as rapidly, the outline of a skeleton could be seen.

Flesh rapidly filled the skeleton as his organs bloomed forth once more and skin as white as jade draped over his figure, tightly hugging him.

Through his body, the jewels shone through as from them, more and more veins and channels began to form, greedily devouring the endless Qi of the world around him as his transformation continued and a cocoon formed around him.

For every pulse of the cocoon, Adonis' body would be reformed, his talent reforged and his body strengthened.

Far away, Uncle Seth looked at all that was happening with a peculiar gaze.

'How interesting. His body is actively using the assimilation of these meridians to upgrade itself and sublimate its blood essence.'

'Fascinating.'

After a while, the last pulse occurred and Adonis' cocoon shattered, ushering his existence back into the world as a new man.

The Qi around him endlessly swirled and danced, forming a multicoloured mantle that draped over him as atop his head, a crown of white qi had formed.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and his scarlet pupils, containing hints of swirling gold, were revealed to the world.

The Qi around him slowly faded and died down as he took a deep breath and felt his new body.
