Alexander's POV
It had been the morning after the ceremony, and I was informed that Lyra still hadn't returned to the pack.
Nobody knew her whereabouts. Of course, I didn't care if she died or if she was eaten by rough wolves.
The only reason I was worried was because that video of the mating ceremony had gone viral online.
If someone were to spot Lyra, they might just put her against the pack as an informant. Another reason I want her to be found is because she had the audacity to walk out on me while I talked to her.
Anyone who sees that video would think that I am a bad leader. One not worthy to be the alpha of my pack. I needed to instill respect in her and restore my respect.
I sat on the throne, waiting for Jasper to return with the good news that he had found Lyra. Athena sat beside me.
I didn't know much about the woman yet, but I knew that she was extremely good in bed, so that was okay for me, at least for now.
"Alexander, I'm here." Jasper's voice came through as the door was pushed open. In his arms was Lyra, whom he dumped to the ground like heavy logs of wood.
"Where did you find her?" I inquired with a smile on my face; it gave me a sense of power whenever things went the way I wanted them to.
"Just outside the town, in the woods. She didn't manage to get to far, and she reeks of alcohol," Jasper responded. He looked disturbed. The reason probably being that he didn't like whenever he had to treat a person like this, more so a woman.
"That loose woman! I wonder what she was out doing. Take her to the dungeon. Lock her there and instruct the guards not to give her food or water," I instructed.
"Understood. However, you might want to have someone check her head for injuries.
I had to hit her pretty hard to cause the fainting," Jasper suggested before proceeding to lift her again, more delicately this time, and walk away.
If I didn't know him any better, I'd think something was going on between the two of them, but that can't be the case.
"She really is weak, loose, immature. This is why I've always hated her since way back." Athena snapped me out of my thoughts.
Even though I didn't hate Lyra to the extent that Athena hated her, she always talked about her. And she never said any positive things.
"You know her all too well," I responded without looking at her.
"Ignore her; shall we go to your chambers?" Athena suggested. The only reason I picked Athena was because she was born.
Her father is an important member of the pack and a valuable contributor, also because she knew how to work me in bed. Aside from that, I wasn't in love with the girl; I didn't have any sort of emotional attachment to her.
"I don't know if I'm in the mood for that right now," I said, resting my chin on my fist.
I had more important things to worry about, like snatching the territory of the lesser packs in Oceania. I didn't just want to be the alpha of my pack; I wanted everyone to fear me.
I got up and excused myself, leaving Athena puzzled as to what might have been on my mind. It was really nothing; I just felt like going to my mother.
"Don't follow me; I'll be back in a bit, and then we can proceed to the room," I said to Athena.
"Of course, my alpha. As you wish. I shall proceed to the room and await you." She responded with a sly smile on her face and left the throne room.
"This man" I muttered under my breath as she left the room.
Just then, Jasper returned to inform me that he had carried out my instructions completely.
"Where are you headed, Alpha Alexander?" Jasper inquired.
"Out," I responded.
"Out where?" He cocked his head to the side. "out of the palace?" He inquired again.
I was becoming irritated by the questions. I always got like this whenever I was going to this particular place I was headed to.
"To see mother," I swiftly responded and continued walking, moving Jasper aside with the back of my hand.
"Oh," he became somber, the same way I felt, "May I come with?" He added
"No, I want you to stay here and oversee the affairs of the palace till I get back later today. Understood?" I inquired as I held the door knob.
"Understood, Alpha," Jasper responded.
"One more thing," I added. My face was clouded with disgust.
"Yes?" he asked.
"It's Alexander. I don't mind you calling me by my name. We're brothers," I demanded.
"Oh? I'm sorry about that. I guess the title is beginning to grow on me since everyone else here refers to you as 'Alpha'"
"I see. Well, I'll be off now. Take care of things," I said, taking my exit.
******
I sat in the car with the bouquet of flowers I had gotten earlier for my mother. Going to visit her always filled me with sadness because she was terminally ill.
Something I couldn't do anything about because her ailment was a rare werewolf disease.
Ever since I lost my dad, she has been the strong Luna of the pack, holding all together till the illness struck her. She barely even remembers me, and she doesn't have a lot of time.
I gritted my teeth; I had to get rid of this frustration somehow. I needed to take it out on someone, and that someone was going to be that useless omega.
I'd be sure to punish her when I returned. Her insolence was something I couldn't condone.
But why? Why did I feel like I was doing something wrong whenever I hurt her? Like I was manipulated.
