Chapter 65 - Ch.65 Little Spidery's Big Adventure (Middle)

Pikachu, eating peanut butter from a jar, stresses, "Don't forget, I'm a detective. This kid hired me."

"Yes, I need someone to help me. Someone to keep an eye on things from the backend."

"I really appreciate that you chose a rat over me," Schiller snorts.

"Oh, don't get me wrong, Doc," Peter says somewhat embarrassedly. "I just thought this shouldn't brother you. I planned to do it myself; otherwise, why would I assemble this computer? Stark Tower has all sorts of advanced computers. Not to mention monitoring Hell's Kitchen, even monitoring the whole Manhattan area wouldn't be a problem."

Peter continues typing rapidly on the keyboard while saying, "I realize that I can't rely too much on others. When I listen to Matt talking about his experiences fighting criminals, it seems very simple, just beating people up, right? How difficult can it be?"

"But when I try it myself, I realize how challenging it actually is. It's not about cutting one wire; it's about untangling a mess and then accurately finding that the deadly one."

Schiller applauds him, "Has anyone told you that you're truly talented?"

Peter seems like he is born to be a superhero. He is powerful, kind, and most importantly, has the adaptability that most people lack.

Soon, the blue light on the screen flickers. Peter stops his fingers and says joyfully, "It's done. Now I need to wait for a few hours. As long as he emits any signal related to his identity during this time, I will catch his tail."

"What's your plan after that? Launch a frontal assault?" Pikachu asks.

"No, no, no," Peter shakes his head.

"Actually, Captain has taught many tactics with me before, but I didn't pay much attention at that time. Now it's the time I really need to use them. I recall and realize that many things might be helpful."

As he speaks, Peter pulls out a map from his backpack and points to a specific area, saying, "Look here, this is Hell's Kitchen. Can you see the lines I drew?"

"Previously, I found a map of the New York City subway system when it was built at an old newsstand. I marked Hell's Kitchen on this map."

"You can see that the sewer system leads to most of the major buildings in Hell's Kitchen, and the exits are evenly distributed. From the southernmost point A to the northernmost point B, the distance between each manhole cover is almost the same, forming a uniform circular pattern."

"This is a natural route for infiltration. I only need to enter from here, see it?This red dot I marked. I can get to the central area of Hell's Kitchen, near the innermost circle of buildings, in less than 5 minutes with my running speed. It would take about 10 minutes to reach the second circle of buildings. Even for the outermost buildings, it would take less than 15 minutes..."

"As long as I catch the signal, within 15 minutes at most, I can appear inside the building where Bullseye is."

Pikachu infers,"I guess he won't choose the nearest or farthest circle. Like us, he should be somewhere in the middle section of Hell's Kitchen."

"That's what I think too. Although the central area is predominantly controlled by the Kingpin's operations, Bullseye knows that he would be closely watched if he stayed there. He must have a base in the outskirts."

"Catching him there is much easier than infiltrating a place filled with Kingpin's henchmen."

Peter indeed has a talent for computers. In less than a few hours, or even less than twenty minutes, the screen suddenly lights up again. Peter quickly starts typing on the keyboard. He pauses, looks up, and then jumps up, grabbing his backpack and shouting, "Keep an eye out for me! If there's any movement, use the intercom to tell me!"

Pikachu gives him a reassuring gesture.

Peter jumps into the nearest sewer entrance. As he had anticipated, the New York City sewer system forms a complex web. Following the map, he runs even faster than he had estimated.

When Peter pops out of a manhole cover, he finds himself on a street south of Hell's Kitchen. Schiller's psychological clinic is to the north, separated by a few streets, and Matt's small house is a few streets away as well.

Bullseye is indeed good at choosing locations. The signal leads to a junkyard, a hell place rarely visited.

But this place is extremely favorable for Peter. The junkyard has varied terrain, with heaps of garbage that can serve as weapons when entangled with silk, several junk vehicles that can be used for cover against hidden weapons...

Though Peter doesn't understand much about terrain tactics, he instinctively feels that this place will be easy to fight.

Silently, he slips along the edge of the junkyard. As he focuses, his spider senses become sharpened. Peter's mind even faintly projects a 3D environmental map within several meters around him.

At the back of the junkyard, Peter hugs the wall and easily crawls up to the top of a two-story building. Using a strand of silk, he suspends himself, hanging upside down, and looks through the window.

Sure enough, Bullseye is inside the room, talking with one of his men while smoking. Peter catches a whiff of the smell of marijuana. Looking at the smoke-filled room, he retracts the silk and takes out a red and blue suit from his backpack, muttering under his breath, "I forgot to ask Mr. Stark to add a gas mask. Damn Hell's Kitchen."

After putting on the Spider-Man suit, Peter doesn't hesitate. He yanks on the web and swings directly through the broken window.

One of Bullseye's henchmen, who is closer to the window, hasn't even turned around before Peter kicks him unconscious. Bullseye drops his cigarette, curses, and then blocks Peter's punch with his arm.

If Peter has no superpower, Bullseye's move would be an effective defense. But the superhuman strength granted by the spider bite can't be thwarted so easily, even if it hasn't been fully developed yet.

After taking a punch from Peter, Bullseye is sent flying.

However, he is also, without a doubt, a master of acrobatics. In mid-air, he twists his body and rolls, landing smoothly.

He quickly runs towards the backdoor. Peter follows, but the strong smell and lingering smoke in the room weaken his senses. It isn't until a click sounds and the backdoor opens that Peter chases after him, only to be met with three throwing darts.

Peter evades them by rolling to the side. Then he shoots web from his hand, swinging directly from the wall beside the backdoor, landing in the junkyard. Bullseye is standing on a small hill made of garbage.

"Hah, where did this baby boy come from? You think wearing a strange outfit allows you to cause trouble in Hell's Kitchen?" Bullseye taunts.

Peter pays him no mind and immediately kicks him.

When Steve told Peter about tactics, Schiller was also present. He told Peter about a very effective tactic - villains always die from talking too much. As soon as the opponent opens their mouth, you deliver a punch without hesitation. There would be plenty of time to talk once the person is flat on the ground. Why insist on courtesy when dealing with a villain?

This tactic proves to be highly effective. Before Bullseye can even finish his sentence, he has to swiftly throws a barrage of punches.

Peter suppresses the desire to speak and simply starts randomly hitting.Bullseye struggles to defend. He realizes that the kid in front of him has surprising strength, even with just a grazing hit. When he punches Spider-Man, Spider-Man barely flinches; but when Spider-Man punches him, he is sent flying.

If it weren't for Bullseye's exceptional balance and flexibility, allowing him to land smoothly each time, he would have been caught and knocked down long ago.

Seeing it's going wrong, Bullseye throws a dart. While Spider-Man is sidestepping to dodge, Bullseye takes out a ball from his pocket and throws it on the ground. After a faint hissing sound, smoke fills the air.

It isn't a smoke bomb for obstructing vision, but a miniature tear gas canister. A highly irritating smell makes Peter instantly feel suffocated. He covers his mouth and nose, desperately coughing twice. When he regains his senses, Bullseye is nowhere to be seen.
