"He is nothing but a child still wet behind the ears. Over the years he has gotten by on nothing but charm and pure luck. But now, I am going to show him that he is nothing but a child who is not worth of the title that he holds," Despite knowing that his companion had no idea what he was talking about, Derek's uncle felt the need to have his voice be heard. And so he spoke aloud what he had been thinking ever since he had gotten his fool of a nephew to sign his contract.
Soothing jazz music played in the background, pairing just right with the smooth whiskey that Sebastian Haven was currently sipping.
There was a giggle to his right and he turned to the young woman there. "And just what is so funny, my dear?" He asked, slowly swirling the liquid and watching it return to the bottom of the glass when he stopped moving the glass.
"You are, you are so smart,' She told him, her blue eyes wide, and Sebastian had to agree. He really was intelligent.
Leagues above even his nephew, who was lauded as a genius and had been proclaimed a child prodigy. He remembered how proud his brother had been of the brat, and he had to fight to keep a sneer off his face.
He had come to the club, not to wallow, or think on things that made him angry, but to celebrate.
Finally, after years of waiting in the shadows. Biting his tongue as his brother's widow ran the company instead of a Haven by blood being at the helm. And then handing over the family legacy to her barely out of his teens son, Sebastian had been given an opportunity to make things right.
To begin the process of taking back what should have been his in the first place after his brother's death.
His mouth twisting cruelly at the thought of seeing his proud nephew down and out. Sebastian came back to himself when he felt nails graze over the top of his hand.
He looked from the bright pink nails, to the their owner.
"Come now, Bethany, behave yourself," He chided, not really meaning a single word. The girl pouted in response, her fingers now dancing up his up. Tapping lightly against the shirt that he had worn to work that day.
"I can't help it, intelligence in a man is such a turn on Mr Haven,"
"Really now, Britney," She giggled, all pretty, showing her own intelligence befitting someone of her profession. Since he was paying top dollar, she answered to whatever he called her with a big smile on her face.
"How about we leave here, and you show me just how much you love how smart I am?" She laughed again, standing she did not bother to pull down her short, short dress. So when she walked away, Sebastian was treated to quite the show.
He stood following close behind her.
"For the rest of the night, call me, Mr CEO, and I will triple your pay,"
She laughed again, all light and airy.
"Yes, sir, Mr CEO," She replied, and a thrill like no other shot through Sebastian.
He was in for a wild night. With that thought in mind he texted his PA. If Lucas was good at any thing, it was coming up with stories to cover for Sebastian's absence. Good ones too, ones that made him look heroic while in reality he was drunk in an empty pool somewhere.
The last time he had missed a meeting, Lucas had crafted a tale of him being out on a walk to save a portion of the rainforest. He was certain the other man would come up with something to explain away his absence the next day.
If it was a made up story that he liked, Sebastian would seriously consider taking him with when he finally got the position of CEO.
But that day was still somewhere in the future. For now all that he had to worry about was spending the night with the lovely Bianca…
