*Crash*
As Terri slips through the now broken window, I make my way back to the front door of the building.
As I wait for him to find his way through the darkness inside, occasionally knocking on the door to provide him with an audible direction, I begin to think about the past few days.
'All of this is happening quite fast. It's exactly how it should be.' 'Oh, please, don't go on about this again.' 'No, I'm serious. Think about most movies and books like this. Major events and drastic progress made at a breakneck pace. I mean, a story like this can end up taking place over less than a week.' 'I've said this a million times; this world is not fictional. I will agree with you that Terri gives credence to your idea of breaking the logic of the universe. I'm even open to the idea of it actually working out. But, the whole idea that this is all just a plot is where I draw the line. It's just another way for you to delve into your desire to make the world more exciting.'
A large metal click sound came from the door and it slowly opened outward.
"Well, that was a quick job, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, I ran through all those spider webs real quick."
"Oh, shit, are there like actual spider webs in there?"
"Yes! Of course there are spider webs in an abandoned building. The spiders practically own the building."
"Damn, I was kinda hoping it would be perfectly preserved with like a thick layer of dust, but nothing worse than that."
"Well, not only are there spiders, there's probably rats and shit in there too."
"Maybe we should go to another building that's slightly less abandoned. After we burn this one down."
"Would you just get in here already? Let's do whatever it is you think you're gonna do here."
"Alright, but I swear to go if this ends up with me getting spider powers, I'm gonna be really pissed."
As I walk into the building, I switch on the flashlight on my phone and see the state of the building.
"You weren't wrong about those spiders. Um, maybe later you can get rid of em for me?"
"Using this building was your idea; you deal with the spiders."
"But what if they're venomous or something. If you deal with them, we don't have to worry about the bites."
"Your building, your spiders."
"Well, at least I was right about the dust. I can feel it all just from breathing."
"Like you said, no one's actually taking any care of this place. It makes sense to be this bad."
As we continue to walk, I see walls of old metal lockers lining the hallways.
"This place feels more like a highschool than a private college."
"Maybe it was a highschool before it was a college? Who knows?"
"Well, it would add to the atmosphere of what we're doing to have our base be a highschool."
We walk some more and eventually stumble upon what looks like an electrical room.
"So, what's your bet that this place is still hooked up for electricity?"
"Absolutely zero percent. I mean, if they're too cheap to power the fence, no way they'll just waste power on an empty building."
"I mean, if the main breaker is turned off, would it actually waste any electricity?"
"Don't know. But, I can tell you now, this place ain't connected."
"Bet. I think it is. It's the last thing we need to really get the environment we want. Two young adults hanging out in an abandoned school building like it's their personal mansion. That's exactly the type of vibe my plan needs."
With the hope that I am right, I open the main breaker panel for the whole building.
I see the big switch at the top labeled "MAIN" and flip it to the "ON" position.
The room is suddenly lit up by the lights above as if to confirm I was correct.
"Let's see what we got access to."
