Chapter 27 - Chapter 26: The Rescue (Part 2)

In a dark dungeon, Avaron, Ken, Mordecai and Menard were locked up in an iron cage.

"How could I have been so stupid? Gran'pa Ken asked himself in disappointment. "I should have been more careful. I should have been preparing for something like this."

"Well, that's exactly what factors like that cause a good plan to fail," Avaron mused. "You got arrogant, and assumed that nothing would ever happen. In the end, it came back to bite you in the butt."

Ken sighed, having realized that Avaron was right. "Of course...And it's no one's fault but my own. I should have seen this coming."

"It's alright, old man," Avaron said. "We'll find a way out of here." She tugged on her chains as hard as she could, to no avail.

Just then, the Masked One walked into the chamber, bringing the hopeful conversation to an end. "I hope the four of your have finished exchanging your last words, because you're about to meet your deaths."

"As if, you freak!" Avaron taunted. "I bet you that my sisters are coming to save me."

"I doubt that, Moon." The Masked One said. "Your sacrifice will happen faster then your sisters coming to rescue you."

"Sacrifice?" Avaron asked suspiciously.

"There's someone I would like you to meet." The Masked One extended a hand towards the hole where the Sultan rested. "His name is the Sultan of Snakes. And you shall become the key that unlocks his cage."

The Sultan arose from his sleep and surveyed the scene before him. He then noticed Avaron, tied to the sacrifical table, and smiled devilishly, knowing that in mere moments, he would be free.

Avaron's face shrunk into fear and nervousness.

Uh oh, she thought.

"Hyah! Hyah!" Claus grunted, whipping the hurse pulling the cart that Bella and Imala were sitting in. "C'mon boy, faster!"

"Are we almost there?" Imala asked worriedly.

"We ain't far now, girls!" Claus yelled. "Just a bit further!"

"We need to hurry!" Bella urged. "We can't let Avaron or Gran'pa Ken die!"

The three soon reached the Skinwalker's encampment, finding it deserted.

"No one's here," Imala said.

"No, they're still here," Claus corrected. "They must've started the ritual already."

"Let's just hope we're not too late!" Imala rushed off towards the direction of bright flashing lights dancing in the air.

Claus and Bella followed her.

In the cavern, the Skinwalkers roared and cheered in excitement. The Masked One had changed an incantation, and raised his scythe above his head, preparing to behead Avaron.

Avaron's scared eyes widened even more, opening her mouth to scream...

"STOP!" a voice yelled out.

Everyone stopped and turned their heads towards the entrance. Imala, Bella and Claus stood defiently at the entrance, eyes furrowed in anger and determination.

The Masked One grumbled, annoyed at this sudden interruption. "Who dares...?"

"Sis!" Avaron cried out in joy. "You came!"

"We dare!" Claus answered. "Where's Kenny and his family?

"Up here!" Ken called out.

Claus looked up and saw Ken and his grandsons imprisoned in hanging iron cages, looking down at the scene below.

"What are you waiting for?!" the Sultan asked. "Kill them and keep the ritual going!"

"Yes, Master." The Masked One drew his scythe and rushed forward towards the trio, eyes focused and glaring at them with the look of death.
