Walking out of the inn, Damien once again looked around, his eyes going towards the arena-like building in the distance before he decided to head there.
The temple wasn't hard to find, as one could see it even from outside the city. It was made in the shape of a giant arena with the top covered with a large dome of shining gold. Five towering spires rose from the side of the building, their pointy tips jutting into the sky and giving it the shape of a crown. Damien wondered how many cult members the church had for such a huge building to be needed, or it might just be so they could flaunt enough wealth to make themselves seem important.
Approaching the streets surrounding the giant temple, he began to take notice of the increased presence of soldiers. Civilian movements were mostly not hindered, but he noticed how scrutinized everyone who came close to the temple's building was.
There were multiple groups of pilgrims around the temple's gate. Normally, a temple like this usually got some visits from pilgrims every year, but their sudden level of presence in the city was mildly surprising.
He was approaching where he could see a group of pilgrims standing, when one of the guards close by jerked upright and looked at him with wide eyes before quickly turning away, trying and clearly failing at pretending to act normal. The others were more subtle, but Damien still noticed their sudden wariness and the way they seemed to scrutinize his every motion all the while pretending to act normal.
Ignoring them, Damien approached a pilgrim who seemed to be standing alone, "Never knew the Solaris Empire had enough interest in a small insignificant city to send one of their spies," He said.
The man turned to look at him, "The interest of the Empire is none of your business," He didn't try to deny the accusation of him being a spy, but Damien could see the shock that he tried to hide.
Brown hair paired with black eyes that were very common in a city like this, a face that would be overlooked in a large crowd like this. He was putting on desert garments that matched his hair color, and he also carried himself like the other pilgrims around. The dressing made him look unassuming, which could only mean the Empire was still on a passive stance concerning the city, for now.
Though Damien could still see the way he looked down on the city and everyone around, the usual look everyone from the Empire gave anyone they considered lesser, which was practically almost everyone.
The Solarian looked around, "I can see that you have gathered quite a bit of attentive eyes right now," He looked at Damien from head to toe. "You don't look like you're from around here, given your appearance. And since you're so familiar with the Empire to identify, at a glance, who our agents are, you must either hail from the Empire or somewhere around our continent," He summarised. "Who do you have to be to draw this kind of attention and wariness from the guards?" He asked.
Damien smiled, "Not your business."
The man nodded, "I'll get my answer one way or another; you're too much of an unknown to let roam about unchecked; the only difference is how much pain you're going to feel. I have questions to ask and they're going to get answered one way or another. Now, I will go find somewhere else to stand before your contagious attention falls on me too," He began walking away before stopping, looking back halfway at Damien. "Don't bother running, I'll find you anywhere you hide."
Damien decided then and there to call it in for the day. Turning away, he moved on to go find another inn to stay.
