"What are you doing? Don't come any closer," I climbed up the bed, wiggling my way towards the headboard. My heart thudded with fear and unease.
"Not so tough now, are you?" Jason leered at the flighty look in my eyes.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked, wincing at the sound of his demented laughter.
"You finally decided to be reasonable. You know, none of this would be happening if you had continued being the biddable little whore you've always been."
I clenched my fists, refusing to let my emotions show.
"So, this is Orion's way of trying to put me in my place?"
"We would like to come to a settlement, my client and I. We wish to buy you out of the company." He produced a document from within his suit and extended it to me.
When I refused to reach for it, he exhaled a deep breath. I could see a vein ticking in his neck.
"My client is willing to offer you a generous amount in settlement, Juniper. You will take the offer."
