Chapter 75 - 75

The meeting tent in the Konoha army base was bustling with activity. Jonin commanders from across the ranks had gathered for an important discussion. "What do you think Ryuken-sama is up to? It feels like we're on vacation here in the Land of the Sky!" one Jonin grumbled.

"Who's to say we're not? It's been days, and there's been no movement. All we see are supply lines moving back and forth," another chimed in. A seasoned Jonin added, "Our resources in Konoha have always been superior to those of other nations, but this pointless consumption is troubling."

The Jonin voiced their dissatisfaction with Senju Ryuken's leadership and their growing concerns about the war's progress. In a secluded corner, Aizen sat silently, observing the scene unfold. As the medical team leader, he held a high enough rank to participate in these meetings. "Idiots," Aizen thought, sneering inwardly at the Jonin, whom he saw as nothing more than muscle headed fools.

He had long suspected Ryuken's intentions, ever since the commander had initiated certain actions. Aizen had deduced that there were three primary ways to expose a hidden enemy. The first was to cut off their supplies and force them to reveal themselves. However, the Hidden Sky Ninja's plans were clearly long-term, and their secret base must have had ample supplies to sustain them for a while. The first option was unlikely.

The second option was to lay siege to a location of high value to the enemy, forcing them to engage. In this case, that would be the capital of the Land of the Sky. Capturing it would significantly weaken the Hidden sky position, even if they remained hidden. This strategy, however, had drawbacks. It required substantial resources and time, and it wouldn't eliminate the Hidden Sky Ninja entirely, leaving a lingering threat to Konoha.

This was unacceptable to Ryuken, who had taken command to defeat the Hidden Cloud and enhance his reputation. If the Hidden Cloud remained undefeated, his mission would be compromised. The third option was to lure the enemy out with bait. Aizen believed that Ryuken was employing this strategy, and the bait was likely connected to the second option – the capital of the Land of the Sky.

The fact that Ryuken had called this meeting suggested significant progress in his plan. "Greetings, everyone! Apologies for the slight delay," Ryuken's voice boomed as he entered the tent. "Ryuken-sama!" the Jonin greeted him, albeit with some reservation. Despite their discontent, they maintained a facade of respect for their commander.

"I'm aware that my actions have been perplexing lately," Ryuken addressed the assembled Jonin, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Not at all, Ryuken-sama! You're too kind!" the Jonin hastily replied, their words contradicting the doubt in their eyes.

Ryuken continued, unfazed, "There's no need for such formalities. I understand your concerns, and I apologize for keeping you in the dark for over a month. The secrecy of the plan necessitated it." The Jonin were taken aback by his candidness. Aizen, however, scoffed inwardly, recognizing Ryuken's apology as a mere facade to save face.

Ryuken then proceeded to explain how he had intentionally leaked information to the Hidden Cloud, making them believe Konoha was preparing to attack Laguda, their capital. This had successfully lured them out, allowing Aburame Mori to place a tracking seal on one of their members.

"So that's why our logistics units have been so active lately!" one Jonin exclaimed. "Ryuken-sama is truly a visionary!" another praised. The mood in the tent shifted drastically, as admiration replaced doubt.

Ryuken, however, remained calm, a hint of pride flickering in his eyes. "Ryuken sama, now that we can track the Hidden Cloud's location, shouldn't we mobilize and strike?" Hyuga Kyo, the Hyuga clan elder and second-in-command, eagerly inquired.

"Patience, Kyo-san," Ryuken replied. "While we could certainly defeat them now, their counterattack would cause unnecessary losses. By making them believe we're targeting Laguda, we've forced their hand. They'll soon launch a desperate attack, leaving their base vulnerable. That's when we'll strike and eradicate them completely."

Hyuga Kyo nodded in agreement, along with the other Jonin. But Aizen remained skeptical, sensing that Ryuken's plan was more complex than it seemed. As the meeting concluded, Aizen pondered Ryuken's words, a realization dawning upon him – air resistance, sneak attack.

"So that's your game, Ryuken," Aizen thought, a smirk forming on his face. While the Konoha forces continued their usual routines, secret preparations were underway. Finally, one morning, as the Konoha army feigned a movement towards Laguda, the Hidden Cloud Ninja, anticipating this move, emerged from their hiding.
