Dominic felt a pang of guilt mixed with frustration. He wanted to help her, to bring her back to reality, but there was nothing he could do. He just had to wait it out and hope that she would come back to her senses once the drug wore off.
Dominic sighed heavily, his mind still filled with thoughts of concern for Arette. He turned to April and gave her an intense look. "Stay with her," he said, his voice low. "I need to freshen up. I'll be back shortly."
April nodded stoically and watched as Dominic turned and left the room. Once he was gone, she returned her attention to Arette, who was now sitting on the bed, her laughter having subsided to occasional chuckles.
As Dominic made his way to his own room, he couldn't shake the image of Arette's out-of-control behaviour from his mind. The Euphoralax had always done its job perfectly for her, but today had been particularly intense. Maybe Euphoralax wasn't so perfect after all.
