"I completely understand why you're so loyal to Dominic Ferrari. He would've been like a god to you at that point in your life," Dami had been listening intently, looking at him with shock, empathy, and understanding all mixed together.
"I can't believe you've been through all of that," she said softly, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I had no idea." Dami was never the type to get emotional while listening to other people's sob stories; in fact, she believed most people intentionally made their stories sadder than they needed to be, but for some reason, she just wanted to cry her eyes out for Matthew.
He looked so strong and happy that no one would have imagined he went through something like that.
Matthew nodded, and even though it was over a decade ago for him, it still saddened him whenever it crossed his mind. "It's not something I talk about often. But I felt like you needed to know."
