Matthew stood at the threshold of the prison gates, the cold metal doors creaking open to reveal his new reality. The noise shattered his heart into pieces – shouts, clanging metal, and the distant hum of machinery. His stomach churned with fear and disbelief. The life he had and was trying so hard to keep was gone so suddenly.
As he was led through the maze of corridors by a guard, he still couldn't fathom how he had ended up here. Framed for a crime he didn't commit, and now facing fifteen years in this hellhole. It would have been better if he had died with his family years back. What was the point of being the only survivor if the universe was going to test him in ways like this? His thoughts were interrupted by the guard's gruff voice.
"Welcome to your new home, Bruce. Keep your head down, and you might just survive," the guard said, unlocking the cell door and pushing Matthew inside.
