James opened the curtains, allowing the first light of dawn to peek through the dorm room, casting a warm glow on their desks cluttered with textbooks, blueprints, and a half-empty coffee mug. It was his second semester of junior year at Sanctuary National University, and Matthew was now balancing his demanding civil engineering programme with a new part-time job at a local construction company. Today, however, promised to be particularly challenging.
Matthew's phone buzzed with an alarm, and he groggily reached for it, silencing the annoying beeping. He checked his schedule: classes from 8 AM to 2 PM, a meeting with his project team at 3 PM, and a site visit at 4:30 PM. He also had a deadline to submit a design proposal by midnight. As he swung his legs out of bed, he felt the weight of the day ahead.
"Morning, Matt," James greeted from across the room, already dressed and ready to go.
"Morning. Busy day ahead?" Matthew asked, stifling a yawn.
