When the following day arrived, Giselle and Dominic were ready to head out. Following the plans they had the previous day before Damien turned Dominic into a punching bag. With Giselle behind the wheel of her favourite sports car, they set off on the road to a nearby café where they had reserved a table for a Sunday brunch.
Sunday brunch was a nice change from their usual routine.
Dominic, sitting in the passenger seat, fiddled with his phone. He could see his mother's carefree demeanour as she focused on the road ahead.
The car's engine hummed softly as it rolled over the smooth road. The sun shone brightly, and Giselle had the windows down, letting in a gentle breeze that fluttered her hair. She turned to Dominic and smiled, enjoying the tranquillity of the moment. "I hope you aren't in so much pain," Giselle asked.
"No, Mother. I am fine."
