It was breakfast, and Derek sat at the edge, reading the newspaper, while Giselle, with a soft smile, settled at the other end. Dominic, a 16-year-old with a scowl firmly in place, sat opposite Damien, who was 21 and exuding a smug confidence. Dominique, the younger sister, was nestled beside Giselle, her eyes darting between her older siblings with a mix of apprehension and curiosity.
Damien leaned back in his chair and broke the silence. "So, Dominic, how's that little project of yours coming along? You know, the one you were bragging about?"
Dominic's jaw tightened, and he glared across the table. "It's fine. Better than anything you've ever done." Dominic knew that Damien was trying to provoke him, and normally, Dominic would keep quiet and not entertain Damien's nonsense, but not today.
