Dominic's jaw dropped at her revelation. "What?! Your son?" he said, flabbergasted. "That doesn't make any sense because you were never pregnant."
"I guess you don't know me like you thought you did."
Dominic's mind raced as he tried to process her words. "How... how is Garette your son then?" he asked, confusion etched on his face.
"Well, to be honest, it's kind of a complicated story..." Dominique began, her sheepish expression returning. "But the short version is that I had Garette at 17 when I left the asylum, and I wasn't ready to be a mother. So I... gave him up for adoption."
"Adoption? Really, Dominique? You gave a Ferrari up for adoption? How do you think Mother and Father would have felt if they knew their grandchild was given up for adoption? That aside, you were pregnant for nine months and you didn't even think of telling me. Dominique, I thought we don't hide things from each other."
