"Morning, Washington," he whispered, nudging her gently.
Dami groaned and buried her face deeper into the pillow. "Five more minutes, it's Saturday," she mumbled. She had been invited to Matthew's place the night before, and heavy rain started right before she was about to leave. Matthew suggested it wasn't safe to drive in such rain, so she stayed over.
Matthew chuckled and made his way to the kitchen. He loved these lazy weekends, the kind he wished he could have all the time. He started gathering ingredients for a breakfast treat—pancakes. As he measured out the flour and milk, he heard Dami shuffling into the kitchen, her eyes still half-closed.
"Smells good," she said with a yawn, leaning against the counter.
"Good morning to you too," Matthew replied with a grin. "I figured we could start the day with some pancakes. Want to help?"
Dami nodded and reached for the eggs. "Sure."
