Ethan stared at his Rune shimmering with dim gold color. Jane said that these Runes represent his own abilities and status.
'The mysterious power inside that Tower is incredible. It can create this thing that instantly analyzes my own status. With this, it will be easier to track my progress.'
Ethan nodded to himself. He was sure that all Invited received this Rune. He had never heard stories about this from the Conquerors – people who had conquered the Tower up to the Tenth floor.
Jane didn't say he had to keep it a secret, but if something like this were seen by ordinary people, they wouldn't understand either. So there was no point in saying anything.
He focused his mind on the line of Rune he wanted to know the details of, just like Jane said.
First, he focused on his [Talent].
Talent Name: Soulweaver (Mythical-grade).
Description: The power to manipulate and master the very essence of living beings is now in your grasp. This Talent is something originally awakened by the First Lord of the Spire after surviving the betrayal of his family and comrades. Now, this Talent is yours to hold. Will you end up the same as the First Lord or will tread a different fate?
Ethan frowned with an expression of displeasure. 'What the hell? Why does this damn Rune have to give me some kind of curse at the end of the sentence?'
But Ethan didn't dwell on it any longer. Maybe this is just a flavor text like in the game he used to play briefly.
But if this is real, he just had to be prepared for it. From now on, he had to develop the necessary paranoia. Even Jane said that most of the Invited would turn into his enemies.
He continued.
Talent Ability: Soul Manipulation, Soul Sense.
Soul Manipulation: The power to manipulate the Soul of every being you touch. You can heal wounds they suffer, give them new shapes, enslave them, or take their power for yourself.
At the 1st stage, you can only manipulate a maximum of 5 living creatures per day. Your manipulation is also limited.
Consumption: 10 Energy.
'I can't complain about the limits because this superpower is just amazing.' Ethan grinned. 'Even with the limits, I'm sure this will solve a lot of problems.
'But the Energy consumption is quite high. Well, I guess one can't ask for too much.'
Soul Sense: You can sense the Soul of every living being within a certain range. This ability gives you a clear view of your friends and enemies.
At the 1st stage, you can sense the Soul of every living being within a 1-kilometer radius from you.
Consumption: -
Ethan's grin widened. Both of his abilities were truly amazing. Now with this, he assumed that he would be able to sense their presence, making him never caught off guard.
And there is no Consumption, so it may mean that this ability is passive. He tried to focus and could sense a lot of things he didn't feel around him before.
He could also feel the Soul of his father. He felt his pain and fatigue.
Ethan immediately shifted his focus and the feeling of Souls around him diminished.
His [Attributes] seemed self-explanatory. He felt no need to study it. So next, he focused on his [Gear].
[Gear]
Aetherbow (Transcendent Treasure): A bow made by an unknown master. It is made of Aether, which is an energy originating from a distant world. The Aether swirling around the bow like mist made of evaporated blood.
It has an extraordinary level of hardness. The ability to create its own Aether arrow is its main advantage.
The damage of the Aether arrow is based on the user's Talent Stage.
Ethan couldn't help but let out a small laugh. Everything he got is clearly amazing.
But he immediately stopped his excitement. He had to consider that maybe the other Invited also got the same amount of rewards from the Trial. He must not appear arrogant or flashy, or he would only bring doom upon himself.
Ethan then called his Aetherbow. A bow with a red hue appeared in his hand. His fingers instinctively curled around the smooth, cool surface of the Aetherbow.
The bow's frame shimmered with a crimson hue, as if woven from strands of vibrant energy. Upon closer inspection, Ethan noticed tiny dust-like particles of red Aether swirling around its length, casting a mesmerizing glow.
As he drew the bowstring back, Ethan could feel a subtle thrum of energy coursing through his fingertips, connecting him to the mystical essence of the Aether.
A moment later, an arrow appeared. Its shaft was black, but the arrowhead seemed to have the same color as the bow, a metal with crimson dust swirling inside it.
The arrow disappeared as he returned the string to its original position.
'This bow is too conspicuous.'
Ethan then decided to wrap the bow in a black cloth. Instantly, the mystical appearance of the bow vanished, turning it into a nondescript weapon.
'That's better.'
Satisfied, he put the Aetherbow back inside his... He didn't know what it was called yet, a space in his soul, maybe that's the right term. Or maybe not. Jane didn't say anything to him about it.
Ready to go, Ethan opened his father's room once again and silently vowed to return with the cure and the reward. He glanced at his father's frail figure.
Then he closed the door and went back to the Tower.
