Chapter 69 - 069 The perspective is superficial.

In an effort to soothe Madame Qin, Wang used the comforting words once spoken by Qin Liusi.

"...Liusi mentioned that the Taoist master Chiyuan once divined for our family, predicting assistance from a benefactor to safely reach the northwest."

Madame Qin's clouded eyes immediately brightened as she grasped Wang's hand, asking eagerly, "Is this true? You're not deceiving me, are you?"

Wang smiled gently and replied, "How could I deceive you? Yan'er is here too. As a mother, why would I wish ill upon him?"

Madame Qin, upon hearing this, observed the visibly aged features of Wang and sighed, patting her hand, saying, "You've endured much."

In terms of hardships, every member of the Qin family suffered, but Wang, as the eldest daughter-in-law, bore the greatest burden. She had the responsibilities of a senior daughter-in-law and the heart of a mother, yet her own son, barely twelve, accompanied the elders to the harsh lands of the northwest. Who among mothers would willingly endure this? Despite appearing composed, Wang bore the weight of sleepless nights, consumed by worry and longing for her son.

Her nose tingling, Wang forced a smile and said, "Mother, don't worry too much. Take care of your health. We still rely on you, the anchor of our family."

Madame Qin chuckled bitterly, "An anchor? I am no longer of any use. I am no better than a mere servant girl."

Wang's eyebrows twitched slightly.

"You're right. As for assistance, perhaps only Master Chiyuan can truly help. Being unofficial and having ties with our family, especially as Yan'er's mentor, he could arrange matters more effectively in his name than we could openly."

Madame Qin continued, "Regarding how long Yan'er plans to stay there, instead of visiting the Taoist temple, perhaps we should wait."

Wang hurriedly interjected, "Mother, please don't rush. With your current health, how can you travel? The household is in disarray, and we must also attend to the affairs of our younger siblings. I trust Yan'er will discuss this matter with his mentor. That girl is clever."

"Clever she may be, but perhaps a touch indifferent."

"Even so, she wouldn't neglect us. You've seen it yourself. Furthermore, she instructed Li Dagui to purchase many things without taking a single coin from me." Wang disclosed Qin Liusi's clandestine actions.

Madame Qin's expression revealed a mixture of emotions. "Once the Qin family is stable, her dowry will surely be substantial."

Wang smiled faintly but refrained from commenting further. She couldn't shake the feeling that Qin Liusi's mysterious actions required further scrutiny.

Leaving Madame Qin's room, Wang made her way back to the storeroom. Before she entered the courtyard, she heard the urgent tone of Shen Mama and...

Wang quickened her pace, confirming her suspicions upon seeing Xie Shi taking the finest pieces of silk with her children. Her expression turned icy. "Younger sister, what are you doing?"

Xie Shi froze momentarily before breaking into a smile. "Sister-in-law, I heard that Manager Li purchased some fabrics and threads. I thought, since Mother is unwell, I could make her some new clothes to cheer her up. Although these fabrics may seem ordinary, they're acceptable. May I take them?"

Shallow indeed. Wang's demeanor cooled as she replied, "It's commendable that you're filial. How about we all go together to Mother's quarters? Let her decide if these designs please her before making a decision."
