Chapter 57 - 057 More bad luck than good

"Master, the rain just now came down heavily, and some mud and stones blocked the path ahead in the canyon," Fire Wolf said. "It might take some time to clear the way, and if we take a detour, it will further delay us. Tonight, I'm afraid we won't make it to the town or inn."

Quinn glanced ahead at the canyon, his gaze deep. If they hadn't listened to Qin Liusi's words and insisted on pressing forward, would they have been hit directly?

Looking back at Qin Liusi's carriage, Quinn said to Fire Wolf, "It's getting dark. Let's clear the path for the carriage to pass through."

"Yes."

Chen Pi, who was nearby, heard this and quickly ran back to Qin Liusi's carriage. "Master, they need to clear the canyon to proceed."

"Okay," Qin Liusi replied, still contemplating what kind of artifact to make from the thunderstruck wood. Perhaps a small sword?

Chen Pi went to assist Fire Wolf in clearing the roadblock, but returned with a gloomy expression.

While helping clear the road, his hand was cut by a falling stone, bloodied.

Qin Liusi clicked her tongue. "Fortune or misfortune, one cannot escape calamity."

"Master!" Chen Pi looked aggrieved.

Qin Liusi took out golden medicine and clean water, treating his wound. "It's okay. It's just a minor injury with no life-threatening danger. It'll be fine after a while."

Hearing this, Quinn, who accompanied Chen Pi back, said, "Didn't you think to help him avoid this calamity?"

Qin Liusi replied, "A minor injury that cannot be avoided must be endured. Besides, I've already helped him. Otherwise, why would he seek shelter from the rain? But whether he can avoid it is his own choice and fate. He's just a little kid, idle and doing nothing useful. What help could he possibly offer his brothers? Look, he's only made things worse!"

Truly heartless!

Quinn looked at the disheartened Chen Pi and couldn't help but feel sorry for him!

Meanwhile, the heartless master wore a look of "you brought this upon yourself," making Quinn feel even more pity for the poor kid.

Leaning against the carriage door, Quinn waited as the subordinates cleared the road, listening to Qin Liusi's reprimand of Chen Pi. As the sky grew darker, he noticed the sound of carriage wheels approaching from afar.

"At this hour, there are still people on the road," Qin Liusi remarked upon hearing the carriage wheels, looking in the direction of the sound.

Quinn straightened up, calling Fire Wolf to be cautious.

A carriage and several servants on horseback appeared in sight, looking somewhat urgent. The man riding in the front dismounted and approached Fire Wolf, inquiring about the situation. After a brief exchange and receiving instructions from the owner of the carriage, they came over to help clear the roadblock.

With more hands on deck, the blocked path was cleared quickly. Qin Liusi and her group resumed their journey, but as the night fell completely, they found themselves unable to reach the town or inn, settling instead in a small village for the night.

"Master, the carriage that followed us has passed," Fire Wolf reported to Quinn.

Quinn just made a sound of acknowledgment, seemingly unconcerned.

"They will come back," Qin Liusi said, looking at the dark night sky. "And they'll come back with serious injuries."

The air was thick with blood and deathly aura, spelling more bad luck than good for their group.

Everyone was suddenly filled with horror.
