Chapter 1 - 001 My home was ransacked

The Qin family has finally been raided!

And this day, I have waited for ten years!

Ten years ago, with my advanced physiognomy skills, I traversed here, only to foresee the calamity that would befall the family the moment I opened my eyes.

And I, am the sole hope.

But before I could earnestly work to avert disaster for the family, I was banished to the countryside by the short-sighted patriarch.

---

Qin Liuxi looked at the crowded group of people in the flower hall.

Drenched they were, yet their demeanor remained proud, perhaps still not grasping reality, still imagining themselves as lofty aristocrats.

Qin Liuxi sighed, and turned to the elderly lady leading them: "Grandmother, the granddaughter has arranged for ginger soup and hot water. Would it be wise to first have some ginger soup, take a warm bath to dispel the cold, and then converse?"

Hmm?

Qin's old lady was momentarily puzzled. They hadn't informed them of the raid on the Qin family. Where did this girl get her information from, to have everything prepared in advance?

But after the long journey, her body was too weary. Qin's old lady lacked the strength to investigate further, so she simply nodded and said, "Your arrangements will suffice."

Qin Liuxi instructed Aunt Li and the others to lead the dozen or so people in line to freshen up. When her gaze fell upon a pregnant woman with a prominent belly, her eyelids twitched.

This was truly adding insult to injury.

The sudden crisis in the Qin family had left no time to conceal anything before the raid. Not only could they not take any valuable items from the house, but even their jewelry and fine clothes had been stripped away. Otherwise, the women would not be dressed in simple plain garments.

This wasn't a pressing concern, as simple meals were acceptable, but the real challenge was the heavily pregnant woman. Facing a sudden crisis, shocked and weakened in spirit, experiencing fetal movements and nearing childbirth, her face was almost entirely shrouded in dark aura.

Qin Liuxi whispered a few words to the physician following her, and the latter swiftly went out.

Sure enough, as soon as the physician left, the woman let out a cry of pain, clutching her stomach and falling to the ground, blood slowly staining her white dress from beneath her.

The sudden turn of events left those still in the flower hall pale-faced and gasping in shock at the unexpected turn of events.

"Sister San." A slightly haggard, yet dignified woman rushed forward, picking up the groaning woman from the ground and holding her in her arms.

"Pain... my stomach hurts." Gu Shi groaned, her face turning ashen, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.

"Mother." Wang Shi looked to Qin's old lady, her face pale, "Sister San seems to be going into labor."

Qin's old lady felt weak. This was the second child for her youngest daughter-in-law, but she was carrying twins. Now, barely seven months pregnant, if she went into premature labor, would these two children survive?

Leaving aside the fate of the two children, just considering the condition of the mother, who had experienced such a traumatic event and was now in such a state, giving birth under such circumstances would be as perilous as walking on the edge of a cliff.

Qin's old lady closed her eyelids, suddenly overwhelmed with sorrow.

Had the Qin family enjoyed smooth sailing for decades, only for their fortune to plummet in an instant? Was it heaven's will to bring about the downfall of her Qin family?

"Mother?"

Qin's old lady bit her tongue hard, tasting the salty blood, and opened her eyes, taking a deep breath. "Prepare to assist Gu Shi in childbirth."

She then looked to Qin Liuxi beside her.

Qin Liuxi immediately stepped forward and said, "Grandmother, the granddaughter has already sent someone to summon the midwife. Please rest assured, and let's move Sister San to the delivery room first."

Qin's old lady surveyed the room, looking at the trembling women and children, and had never expected that it would be Qin Liuxi, a mere adolescent girl, who would step up to help.
