A translucent being wondered around the street floating aimlessly in the full moon.
Its body flickered between visibility and invisibility like candle flame desperately trying to stay alive.
Such a phenomenon would give even the bravest of hearts a scare- unless prepared before hand because such thing was unnatural and should not occur but here it was.
Drifting.
It was a soul.
The same soul who chose the open window rather than the Queen.
It hovered around passing sights and scenes, prosperous areas and moved westward.
Gradually the scenery luxury faded away and average houses appeared but even with that it kept moving.
Passing the the three tiers, the rich, middle-class and poor areas.
Soon later, the place became bare, void of houses the only presence of life was the great forest in front of it.
It moved deeming to enter the forest but - suddenly it paused as though to verify.
It hesitated its body flickering in where it was before swerving to the left.
it could feel a pull- an attraction from yonder like a metal to a magnet it flew towards the calling.
the closer it got the stronger the pull became.
Until it appeared before a little house.
In the cottage, basked by the glow of the full moon's light two couples lay on the bed and whispered to themselves in hushed whispers
"The doctor, what did he say?"
"The same result -no improvement"
"Really? After all the treatment?" The woman chocked on a sob
"Doesn't that mean we would never have children of our own"
"Damn those bastards! If not for them-" she said with gnashed teeth.
Honey it's okay, one day we would get our revenge" the man said quickly interrupting her before she goes down the rabbit hole again.
"How can you be so calm look what they did to you!" She cried out and slowly sobs covered any other words she could have said.
"And I wish my husband could have a child". She prayed inwardly unaware that her prayers were about to be answered.
The soul stopped hovering at the entrance of the house.
It had become shockingly transparent and could sense and sense a crisis.
It hesitated as though confirming the pull then it's entered into the house and moved into the room.
This time within hesitation.
As quick as lightning it dove into the woman's womb.
The husband who was comforting his wife eyes snapped open with vigilance as though sensing something.
The man jumped up from the bed to check outside ignoring his wife's questioning
Behind the door, his hand had unknown signs ready for the attacker.
He pulled the door open harshly while hidding by the side.
He peeked and looked around- nobody.
He performed some hand signs again before breathing a sigh of relief and shut the door
He shuffled back the room with scrunched eyebrow. A sign of his thoughts been clearly occupied by what just happened.
When he was at the door he heard a groan of pain.
He quickened his pace rushing inside only to see his wife's unconscious body.
His heart skipped as panic gripped him. He walked with his breath coming out shakily.
"... Mom's name..."
"... mom's name.!.."
He called his voice increase in intensity and volume as he shook her shoulders.
'Is she alive'
The thought flashed through his mind and he quickly put his hand under her nose and felt her breathing steadily only then did his hanging heart stabilize.
as for the soul it had long since enter into the womb of the woman and was adapting.
On the other hand unlike the other two the third soul did not find it so easy.
The faceless transparent being moved across the face of the Earth is stopped on the doors of some houses but kept moving as the pull it felt was not that strong.
It faced danger because the farther away it moved from its summoning ground the fainter it became.
Although it could not think it had a will and could sense a stronger crisis that demanded it to choose if not it would be obliterated.
Outside the empire.
Southward of the Empire lies the kingdom Ike.
Currently across the kingdom's border a fierce battle waged against the Ike kingdom and the next kingdom.
The Ike kingdom had sent 500,000 men to fight the opposing kingdom.
At the middle of the battlefield was the captain- the major general who have Lead the Kingdom's soldiers to victory countless of times.
It was said that in battle if you catch just a glimpse of the fluttering dazzling red cape would feel even the soldier at deaths door with excitement and strength.
In battle this figure charisma and reputation was so great that just the presence alone was like a debuff on the enemy.
And a buff on the allies or subordinates just like in an RPG game only that this was not a game.
A horn was sounded from the other part of the field was the command the opposing kingdom's soldiers needed to retreat.
As the enemy soldiers retreated from the battle front filled with vigor the Ike kingdom's soldiers wanted to give a chase and cut them but all of such thoughts ceased to exist when it. The general's raised right arm.
That meant STOP.
Even though the enemy retreated the soldiers did not relax.
It was noticeable the air was tense as they remain vigilant in case of an ambush as this had happened before when the enemy had retreated the soldiers immediately relaxed with their vigilance weighed down by exhaustion only to be attacked in the rear and surrounded by the enemies reinforcement which had come earlier at an unknown time.
They had suffered a great lose that day mainly due to the panic and chaos the enemy had deliberately caused.
That day had been a lesson that the general never wanted to repeat so this time they stayed and waited and when information of confirmation had come from scout which were deployed did they relax.
Accompanied by morale boosting roars of victory they trekked back to the camp.
The general cladded in armour walked through the camp, red Cape swaying gently with each steps walked towards the inner camp where the biggest tent was.
Immediately the stationed soldier saw the black armour with red Cape.
"General!"
He saluted with glittering eyes of devotion before swiftly opening the tent.
The flap of the tent was opened revealing the six persons sitted around the table waiting
Seeing the person coming in.
the audience arose on their feet greeted the figure
"general Chika"
They saluted.
"You may have your sit"
a came from inside the helmet and as the person spoke they lifted up their hands to remove the helmet.
Removing the helmet it revealed piercing purple eyes which peered at the commanders.
General Chika walked round the table and sat on the biggest on.
"Reports" her voice sounded cooly
Bam!
Her hands slammed down at table raising dust.
"Commander Dikachi"
She called out
"Yes!, General" He answered standing up.
"I want to why our intel was wrong"
"Your Intel said "the enemy's troop would be moving by 6am! But why did they attack by 3 hours ealier!"
"I want feedback by 3 hours" she commanded.
"Your error almost led to our deaths! If don't get a reasonable explanation why. You would step down and someone will take over! I do not want a commander whose information I can't trust! Is that clear?"
For the next hour, listen to reports, fine-tune the uncertain plans, discarded some and made new ones.
"Session dismissed" General Chika could hear little sighs of relief once the meeting was over
Truthfully she also wanted to sigh but she held it back
If she could, she would not hold s meeting at all but just sleep but it was necessary.
If not they will all die.
Those thoughts occupied her mind as walked back to her tent.
Entering inside she remembered the memory of the past days. Her husband Duke Azubuike had secretly come to see her.
They spent the free time together before he left as swiftly as he came. Even though such adventure was dangerous she still enjoyed it.
"Nneka" She called her female servant who stood by the door.
"Yes, my general"
"Get me my meal. I'll be eating inside today" usually she ate outside with the soliders it served as a moral boost but today she decided to eat inside her tent.
A while later, Nneka walked in with the meal.
"My general, your meal" she placed it on the small knee-length table.
Unknown to both of the them an invisible being had arrived out the tent.
It's body glitching.
Without hesitation
dived into her womb
"GENERAL!" a voice screamed in alarm.
