Chapter 58 - A New Look

Diana held the light blue blouse in her hands, feeling its soft fabric between her fingers. She glanced over at Luna, who was watching her intently, her expression unreadable. Am I supposed to change in front of her? Diana wondered, feeling a twinge of uncertainty. Is this normal for girls? It must be, right? Taking a shaky breath, she started to pull her shirt over her head, her movements slow and hesitant.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Luna's voice broke the silence, and Diana looked up, startled. Luna had turned her head away, one hand blocking her eyes.

"Um… I'm changing," Diana replied, her cheeks beginning to flush.

"Oh… well, wait for me to turn around first," Luna muttered, shifting on the bed until she was facing the door, her back to Diana.

"Oh... okay." Diana's face grew even warmer as she realized her mistake. Of course. What was I thinking?

Once Luna was turned, Diana continued, slipping out of her green t-shirt and black shorts. She picked up the blouse and pulled it over her head, feeling the cool, airy fabric glide over her skin. The blouse fit perfectly, the lace collar resting softly against her neck. She touched the delicate lace at her collar, surprised by how comfortable it was—elegant, but not overly fussy. For a moment, she just stood there, running her fingers over the intricate stitching, feeling both nervous and a little bit… thrilled.

She looked down at the two options left on the bed—a pair of jeans and a skirt. She glanced over her shoulder, seeing Luna still seated with her back turned. "Which one should I put on?" she asked, holding both items up.

Luna shrugged, still facing away. "Doesn't matter. You'll try them both anyway."

Diana looked back at the skirt and jeans, her fingers lingering on the skirt's soft fabric. A skirt, she thought, a flicker of doubt rising. She had never imagined herself wearing something like this before. But then, remembering her own silent vow to push past her comfort zone—just like Daniel was doing—she steeled herself and reached for it. She slid it on carefully, feeling the lightness of the fabric as it brushed against her legs.

"I'm ready," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Luna turned around, her gaze steady as she took in the sight of Diana standing there, her posture slightly stiff but determined. Diana looked back, meeting Luna's eyes, waiting for her reaction.

"Do you like it?" Luna asked, tilting her head to the side.

Diana turned to the mirror, her breath catching like the crisp bite of dawn. She looked different—soft, yet assured, like sunlight filtering through leaves. Her dark waves framed her face like shadowed branches, gently curling past her shoulders. The lace collar hugged her neck like frost tracing a windowpane, delicate but defined. Her fingers brushed the hem of her skirt, hesitant, like testing the stillness of a pond. The gentle flare of the fabric reminded her of petals opening to the sun, modest yet quietly bold, while her shoulders carried the calm strength of a tree steady in the breeze.

Diana hardly recognized herself. Before, she had been a caged sparrow—restless, small, and unsure, flitting between shadows to avoid being seen. But now, she stood like a swan gliding over a still lake, her movements deliberate and graceful, her presence undeniable. The timid flutter in her chest had quieted, replaced by something steadier, like the soft, proud stretch of wings ready to take flight.

Diana turned to Luna and nodded, a smile tugging at her lips, hesitant but warm. Her eyes settled on Luna's peach-pink hair, soft and luminous with a faint golden undertone, cascading down to her lower back like a delicate waterfall of color. Diana took in the sight of this small, petite girl standing before her, radiating a quiet strength that belied her frame. In that moment, Luna seemed almost otherworldly, her every gesture and expression exuding an effortless grace. To Diana, she wasn't just her friend anymore—she was a goddess, someone extraordinary, someone to be in awe of.
