Chapter 8 - Kuat Drive Yards

Kuat truly was magnificent. The pure size of their shipyards would amaze anyone.

During the Empire they always had multiple ISD's just hanging around. Never doing much, they were simply there to show strength. Signaling the pure terrifying political power and ability that they had.

One must never truly underestimate the power of ship building. It is without the doubt the most central and required business . Every single one of their ships are important.

Both for civilian use but also for the military.

Though Kuat drive yards got a huge amount of orders from the Republic and the Empire, further building their own power and prime. But they still continued to build civilian ships.

Albeit a bit slower than Military but it shows that even if your main contractors are the 2 biggest powers to ever exist, civilian ships is still a huge market.

Either way, as we reached the Kuat system we were met by hundreds and hundreds of ships being built, repaired and customized.

All from their space rings surrounding Kuat.

However immediately after jumping into hyperspace. We were met by 2 Venator-class Star Destroyers. And we were back to the usual routine of identifying ourselves.

However this time we said we were simply looking around and we were let through.

We landed at one of the larger hangar.

However this time we had no welcome party. Not that I really wanted one.

I was standing in the cockpit. As I usually was when we met a new planet.

And behind me stood Alexander. As he usually did when I wasn't in my chambers.

"Take 10 guards with you. We're going for a walk." I said and he nodded, I suppose he expected it. Because 10 guards already stood outside the room waiting.

I didn't even bother responding as Alexander knew I appreciated him without relying on my publicly congratulating and complimenting him.

Once we exited I realized something unexpected. Everyone was walking around with guns. But nobody seemed afraid.

Usually when people walk around with guns you're on your top toes ready to dodge behind cover.

But here everyone was walking freely. That's when a little blue police droid arrived. Similar to the ones on Coruscant.

"Halt, customer. I will now read you the rules of the Kuat Shipyard 1034." He said as he began yapping.

This droid truly was the sigma yappity yapper.

"No fighting, drawing your guns means permanent ban."

"Should you kill anyone you will be executed."

"Do not converse with Kuat staff unless allow to"

"Do not enter restricted areas."

And so on. I think he actually talked for 2 minutes and 23 seconds straight.

"That will be all, custom. You may move on your way." The droid said before flying away.

"Eh, that was interesting." Alexander said dryly beside me as he shakes his head.

"Aye, I agree. Quite strict protocol. Well, let's move on." I said as I began walking.

I entered the walking corridors where hundreds of different men and women were walking.

There were hundreds of different species all throughout the shipyard. And it wasn't dominated by any single race. Of course there were more humans due to the fact we make up the largest amount in a single race. But you didn't really see the difference as there were more non-humans than humans.

And soon enough I stumbled upon an info-terminal.

They were strategically placed all over the shipyard to help customers navigate through the long and complicated corridors.

The info-terminal had a filter where you could find areas, specializations, hangars, restaurants and even customer support.

However it also allowed me to search for specific people.

And I typed in

'Walex Cantwell Blissex'

He was 3 floors above me and 3 sections away.

I transferred the directions onto my data pad and began following the instructions.

And by blindingly following it I quickly found myself at the correct place.

It was quite deserted.

I guess his talent hasn't been recognised yet, eh.

Well that's just great news for me. Too bad for Kuat.

I pressed the notifier informing Wessex that I was here and looking for him.

I sat down at one of the chairs while my men positioned themselves all throughout the waiting area. Not that it was needed with bow deserted the waiting area was.

And soon enough a middle aged man barged through the doors.

He seemed to be in his late twenties. Which was much older than he should be.

He looked at me with incredulous eyes. But before I responded I spotted someone else.

It was a girl. No more than 13 years old. She was human, had Black hair, blue eyes and was of medium height of her age.

She also held a data pad and looked curiously at me.

I looked away from her and focused on the main event.

He had light brown hair, a sharp and grumpy face. But it was an excited glint coming through.

He was about 185 centimetres in height.

I stopped sizing him up and started a conversation.

"Walex Cantwell Blissex. I assume?" I asked as I stood up.

"Aye, it seems you know my name. But I don't know yours?" He asked with a slight smile.

"My name is Thalron Veridian. Count and Senator of Thyferra." I said as I extended my arm.

He was quite shocked. He was about to bow but didn't due to my handshake. Which he eventually took.

"I'm not a man of tricks and plays so I'll get straight to the point. One of my agents said you were a promising engineer. And I plan on starting up my own Starship Engineering Organisation. And I was wondering if you could come and lead it with me?" I asked veing straight forward.

The poor man almost stumbled as his brain failed to comprehend with what I just asked.

"W-what, y-you w-want m-me?? W-why? N-no, h-how do you k-know of m-me?" He asked as his brain tried and failed to calm himself.

"As I said my agent let me know of your potential. He knew someone you graduated along with and due to your potential kept a close eye. Your potential is being wasted here, which is why I want you and your daughter to come with me. You designed the powerful Venator but look around." I asked as I waved my arms around to signal the dead waiting room.

This took a great toll on the poor man as he looked around. Emotions flashing through his face, sadness, anger, disappointment. But eventually he got himself together.

"Why would I say no? I would be honored to work with you." He said as excitement filled his entire body.

"Very good. Pack up your stuff and meet me at hangar 1034. I'll leave 7 guards to help you." I said as I turned around, looked at Alexander before beginning to leave.

Alexander understood immediately and he pointed out 7 guards while he Jon and Robb continued to follow me.

I decided we needed to hurry so we went to a nearby speeder station and paid for a 10 minute speeder use.

It took us 3 minutes to arrive so we got a refund after placing the speeder at a new station.

We then quickly headed to the Gorvette.

As we stood in the entrance tube I gave Alexander a simple command.

"Send 30 men to their lab to help pack up their stuff. Let's try to be as fast as possible." He nodded just in time for us to enter the main deck.

Alexander ran off while me and my 2 loyal guards walked to my chambers.

They waited outside as usual while I sat down and began going over a few things.

I placed the preemptive drawings of the Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing Starfighters. It was the 2nd fighter Wessex would make but it was meant to be made a bit later.

I also took out a drawing of the Gladiator I Star Destroyer. Another one of Wessex's creation that I would speed up heavily.

After doing that I told Alexander to direct them both up here when they arrived. However before that, I had another important matter to attend to.

I needed an engineering corporations. You couldn't just randomly recruit engineers without pissing of the owners.

The Kuat Drive Yards probably didn't care much since Wessex hadn't done anything except the Venator and Aetherspray which he did with a team, whom took most the credit.

And I had my eyes on one specific Engineering corporation. That was StellarTech Solutions. They had recently been going down heavily with no military aircraft within the last 2 years due to lack of good designs.

They barely managed to stay afloat by selling Civillian Ships.

I could probably buy it for 200 Million. The reason I wanted the StellarTech Solutions was partly due to the decent name.

But mainly due to the fact they owned an ICM-092792. I could place it in the Thyferra atmosphere and I didn't need to bother with buying space and investing in stuff.

However. What was an even bigger boost was the staff was actually quite good at building stuff. They could build a fighter every week from scratch which was quite good. That basically meant that if I got 5 equal crews to work on 5 different Starfighters I could get 5 in a week.

And the staff was a total of 3000 souls, which was even better. They could probably make tens of Starfighters every week. Which was honestly a great output of fighters in my opinion.

And they would suit me perfectly. Now I only needed set up a meeting with their CEO.

Which technically shouldn't be that hard, right?

I'll probably set it up while we're flying to Thyferra.

It's time to finally return home after all the flying around.

Personally there's a lot I want to do home.

I hurried way too much due to not thinking as long as I should have. Either way I had a lot to learn. Pick up my skills with a Vibrosword, blasters, jet packs and piloting.

I had minimal training in flying a big ship like a CR90 Corvette. But I really wanted to learn how to fly a starfighter.

It was always cool to watch Anakin take out multiple capital ships with a single starfighter. I mean he did it at the age of 8. Why can't I when I'm 14.

Well either way there is a lot I needed to do. I also needed to set up the basics for my own Bacta corporation, and now a engineering corporation. Work truly never end.

That was when my communication device began blinking. It was Alexander.

"They have arrived, My Lord. I directed them towards you and they're now in the elevator." He said.

"Thank you, Alexander. Set the course for Thyferra. I'll talk a bit with our new guests." I said as I turned off the comlink.

Just in time for the doors to open and the duo to step in. A man and a woman.
