"Take a seat, Rize."
Headmaster Veneo said after I entered his room with a rather firm expression.
There wasn't anyone else inside, so I can tell what he is about to tell me is quite important. I sat down at the sofa while he was grabbing some papers from under his desk.
He took the papers and sat down across from me on his sofa. He placed down the paper files on the table.
"Read it."
Hearing his cold command, I silently grabbed the papers and took a glance at the content.
…
W…
What…?
My eyes couldn't believe what I was reading. I turned my horrified gaze from the paper to Veneo, and from his face, I can tell what I'm reading is valid.
"Five thousand... casualties…?"
"This is the data from the battle at the crypt, where the sword of the god of war was sealed. Everything about the battle is detailed right there on those papers."
I picked up another paper and read the content. A six thousand army of powerful mages from Xyphon, against merely two hundred demons who are close to the demon king.
"These two hundred demons... They are like the demon kingdom's secret force?"
"Correct. They are the most powerful squadron of the whole continent at the moment. And… they wiped out five thousand of our men very easily."
Holy fuck…
I kept on reading the details about those armies, and luckily these files had quite a bunch of information.
The army of two hundred, owned and commanded directly by the demon king himself. A single member of the army is at least a higher Yellow ranked based on the experience of fighting them, and they had at least a Knight tier magic each.
Which is… simply nuts, because there are two hundred of them.
They are commanded by ten powerful demons called the Demon Squadron Leaders. A single squadron leader commanded a squadron of around twenty powerful demons, and they all formed into one small army of two hundred.
There are ten of them, and each has their own names. The names look like they are taken from dungeon monsters, like the Orc squad or the Serpent squad.
They are ranked from top to bottom, with the top squad called the Dragon squadron.
"... They are literally taking the names from monsters..."
"Yes, and there's a reason for it."
I kept on reading and landed on a paragraph. The paragraph says that the names of the squads were decided based on their roles in the army.
For example, the Demon Harpy squad is filled with advanced flying members and their role is scouting the opponents, or the Demon Troll squad is filled with brute members who are at least as strong as a Troll, and their role is to devastate the battlefield and turning it into a playground.
"... Interesting."
"Right? To think the demon army has these capabilities and ideas. They are certainly one step ahead of us in terms of both military and strength."
"I want to ask, how did you obtain… all this?"
"We… do have our own insider at the demon kingdom. He is disguised as a demon and lurks in the shadows while obtaining information."
"... He must be a really good spy."
"He is not alone. There are other spies sent by the kingdom, and also from Mazino as well."
"… Mazino is also a part of this?"
"Rize, every kingdom is a part of this. Xyphon and Mazino as the front lines, and Narverne supporting us from the back. The elven and dwarven kingdom is also helping us, in case you haven't noticed.
This… is a huge war, Rize... Of course everyone is joining in."
"... I see… What about Veldonia?"
"They… didn't care. Not even a tiny reply message came from them."
I placed my hand on my face while letting out a sigh.
Of course they wouldn't help out in the war. Veldonia is like the worst kingdom amongst all the kingdoms in the continent, even though they have the most powerful military out of all the kingdoms, with their rankers and all.
"Why... Why now…? Why are you telling me this just now?"
"Well, now that you are done with your academic stuff in your first semester, you can help me discuss the upcoming war."
"... is my academic stuff really more important as the upcoming war?"
"Well, based on my intuition, the war will not happen until next year, so yes.
Also, you were very busy with moving the Class E students to Class A, so I have to keep this to myself while you busied yourself."
I turned my gaze away from his grin, knowing full well that he knows fully well about my plans here.
"... All right then. What can I do?"
"First, let me fill you in on the whole detail."
The headmaster took out a whole map filled with the whole continent. It wasn't very detailed, but it has all the necessary stuff, like the kingdom's places and the great desert.
