Chapter 55 - Chapter XXVI - The Queen (part 2)

An hour has passed. Over 80 people have been healed by me. Just a little bit more.

The funny thing is, even after using fifteen balls, I still didn't get tired.

During the gap between a person leaves and another enters, I took out the crystal that checks magic points. It's a cheap crystal, and it only checks the magic points, so it gets the job done.

5764/7286.

Damn. That did take a lot of energy. But luckily, I'm too much of a monster for this. I could summon a hundred balls of light and I will still be able to stand.

I think most of my energy was wasted being angry at the people that came here not for healing. Unlike that adventurer who came because he wanted to get healed, a bunch of people just wanted to see me.

Just a while ago, a young man with a small wound on his hands asked a bunch of questions about me. I quickly slapped his face and kicked his butt as he ran towards the door.

Khel asked why, but deep down she knew why. That guy was a reporter in disguise.

"Last one, Rize!"

Oh. Finally.

The nun at the door shouted. She opened the door again to see the people standing right outside the door. She immediately turned to shock as she took a few steps backwards.

The last person entered... along with her bodyguards.

"Oh dear…"

Khel mumbled right next to me. Everyone also stops what they are doing and watches the newly arrived person who is entering the church. Even the Nun at the door didn't realize who she was, until she saw her up close.

She was hiding in the cart when everyone was lining up. And when the line finally finished, she came out and joined the line.

"Emm… Khel, who is she?"

"The... Queen..."

"Huh?"

I turned back to see the lady that just entered the room.

Oh… I get what is going on.

The lady who entered is using a black dress with golden ornaments on her dress. Her guards, the knights, walked behind her as she approached me.

Everyone in this room, the nuns, priests, even the elder nun, all of them bowed their heads towards the newly arrived lady with extravagant attire. I noticed that her appearance was also rather unique, since she has bright golden hair that I've never seen before.

She is gorgeous, and she look quite gentle.

The queen's golden hair was tied in the back, and her golden eyes were staring straight at me. Her hands are holding one another, and her very presence shows that she is indeed the queen.

"You are… The Saint Healer?"

She started talking, and I was mesmerized hearing her voice. Her voice is smooth and gentle. She doesn't show a slight hostility, and I still don't know what her true reason for coming here is, but I'll try to gauge it out of her.

"There is no Saint Healer here. Just us healers who are trying to help the people."

I answered honestly, and the queen nodded hearing that.

"I see. Modesty is the best nature a woman can have. You are truly what they say you are."

Her way of talking really made me feel small. I don't like it, but at the same time, I really enjoyed it. This must be what it feels talking with someone with a big presence, like the queen herself.

"Are you here to be healed? Or are you here to see me, just like everyone else?"

"Oh my, how rude of me."

She covered her mouth with her hands, and I realized she just didn't know what to do.

The bodyguards behind her... didn't quite like that question of mine.

"I have never done this before. Please, forgive me."

"I see. That is completely alright. Sit right here, my lady."

Khel moved out of the way and sat next to me, while the queen sat down right in front of me, just like all of my patients had sat down. Her knights are standing right behind her seat, and we can now undergo the treatment.

"Call me Alyssa. The 34th queen of Mazino."

"And I'm just a simple healer. So tell me, my queen. What is the issue?"

"My issue… is not something that can be healed normally, unfortunately."

"Hmm?"

Can't be healed normally... as in, traditional method? Drugs, treatments, etc? Interesting.

"I've had this sickness ever since I was young, when I was just a princess. It has been… quite irritating, to be sick all the time. No doctors from all over the continent have been able to heal me.

My husband has looked all over the continent for a way to heal me. But he found nothing, just like my parents did. In the end, we only found a way to suppress it."

I looked at her more seriously.

"Tell me."

"When I was little, I was very cheerful and energetic. I was always able to run around the castle, sing, and do what I always liked. Sword arts."

Wow… tomboy much for a queen?

"I think that even got passed down to my daughter. Haha."

She chuckled, but then her face turned sad as she looked down.

"Until one day, I fell ill. It was... terrible. My family thought that it was just a simple cold, but it wasn't. A week after I fell ill, my condition got worse. I'm starting to cough blood. Everything was… painful."

She looked very down.

"Until one day, an elven, I think he is currently known as the 'The Greatest Magician', came to my room."

"The headmaster of the academy?"

"Yes, him. He came to my room when I was bedridden. He talked to me while he casted a very powerful healing magic on me. He looked at the sickness I had, and said…

'This sickness is unhealable, my young lady. I cannot completely cure it. And I'm not very sure what sickness it is and what causes it. However, there is a way to keep it tame.'

Since then, he gave me a method to keep the sickness at bay, and I have gotten better. But, I was not as good as I was before.

He told my father that my sickness could be contagious. Since then, my father has done everything to keep both me and the sickness under control. He always made me use a separate bathroom, a separate plate, and other things that could be contagious."

She stopped for a while to catch her breath.

"But that wasn't just it. My body can no longer move too much. I can no longer run. And I can no longer do what I loved the most.

The method to keep my sickness at bay only slowed its move. For more than forty years, I have lived thanks to that method. But now... I can feel it. The sickness is finally finishing me."

She raised her head and held my hand, which was trembling quite badly. I can see that she is both scared and in pain.

"I know that there is a limit to what a human can do. I really do. But please, I need you… to at least try…"

As she begs me to heal her, tears fell harshly from her eyes. I realized that it wasn't just caused by the pain, but also from the sadness and fear of what might happen. If she were to die due to the sickness, she'd have to leave behind so many things. And as the queen of a kingdom as well as a mother, she would be leaving her country and family behind.

After I understood everything, I realized that there is no need for curiosity anymore. I pulled my chair closer and sat closer to her face.

"Tell me about the sickness. Specifically, what effects did it have on you? What causes it? And what kind of method did you use to keep it at bay?"

She wiped her tears from her eyes, and then looked me in the eye.

"Everyday, in the morning, I woke up and coughed blood. It felt… really painful. Sometimes, I lose my ability to breathe. And I had to cough very hard just so I could breathe. It also causes me to lose blood.

Ever since the day I got sick, I can't move and run properly. My body would get tired very quickly, just from doing a small activity. These bodyguards of mine, they are not just for keeping me alive, but also to guard me from doing anything beyond me."

"I see. Continue."

I kept on listening to her explanation seriously. Seeing how I am attending her seriously, she began to lose her hesitation and told me the rest.

"T-The method to keep it at bay is by hiring a healer magician to keep on healing me. The private healing session can take a very long time, and she would always heal me in the evening."

"What did the healer heal?"

"Most likely... my breathing organ. Since that's where I felt the most pain."

Hmm. So, respiratory.

I narrowed down all the sickness that is a possibility. Thank god for the biology class. I'm not a doctor, but someone with my level of knowledge in this world could already be considered one.

It could be…

"So, sometimes you lose the ability to breathe properly?"

"Yes. Sometimes, when I overdid an activity. But there are also times when I didn't do much, and I just started collapsing."

"Hmm…"

It couldn't be asthma. Usually they don't get this terrible, and it's not contagious.

It's not bronchitis. They don't attack your other body parts, like making you ill and weak.

It could be…

"How about your eating habit?"

"Hmm. It could be... a preference thing, but I just don't feel like eating during the evening. I always eat before dark, because I'd like to just rest in the evening."

Perhaps... I know why.

"All this time, when you cough or sneeze, did you cover it?"

"Yes. Because I heard my sickness is contagious. And I'm a lady, I wouldn't cough to another person."

"That's very good. My lady, I would like to try a treatment."

"A-Already?"

She looks at me confused. But really, there is no point than to try healing it.

I lifted my right hand and created a hundred balls of light right on top of me. The ceiling turned to the sky with stars immediately, and everyone knew that I was serious.

The queen realizes that healing magic is now in the air, and her eyes were surprised to see the beautiful display of magic.

If this sickness is indeed that bad, then of course I'll go serious. I'll use the maximum capability of my healing magic.

"My lady, I would like you to stop breathing for a few seconds."

"O-Okay."

She closed her eyes, and I could feel her breathing stopped for a while. I quickly inserted the balls of light to her chest.

Instantly, she suddenly breathes in shock.

"My lady!"

The knight suddenly reacted, but I turned a cold glare at him.

"Y-You!"

"Stay right there."

The knight stopped his move at my command.

If what I guessed is correct, then healing this should be working. Because all I have to do is kill the virus that is living inside her lungs.

I closed my eyes as my vision transferred to the hundred of healing magic inside her. The healing magic enters her lungs, deep inside into the wall of mucus.

"... There you are..."

"Hhhkkk…"

The queen gasped for air again because the magic is doing their stuff, but I don't mind her. The magic inside her lungs is destroying all the virus that was infecting. I even spreaded out the healing magic all the way to her entire body, destroying any leftovers of the virus. Some are found on her muscles, bloodstream, and her organs.

This condition... has gone very bad. At this point, the healer that she mentioned was no longer healing only her lungs, but also her whole body.

No wonder she felt like her time was coming to an end. Give the virus a few more years with this, and not even healing magic can stop it. She is lucky she came to see me right away.

Fifteen seconds later, I put down my hands. The light from her body disappeared as I did it, and the queen finally started breathing again and coughed.

""My lady!!""

The knight bodyguards came to her side and aided her because she looked like she was about to collapse. The queen covered her heavy cough with her left hand. After she coughed, she looked at her hand.

"There's… no blood?"

She must have felt it too. The sickness from her body is gone after all.

It's Tuberculosis. It's the sickness caused by a virus that mainly attacks your respiratory organ, but it also has the ability to spread and attack the other organs.

Normally in my world, the treatment for this sickness is by using medicines that can stop the virus from growing. But, since there's no such thing here, she couldn't be cured.

It was a miracle in the first place that she was able to survive forty years with that hell. But I guess, miracles can also happen with magic.

"D-Did you… Did you do it??"

"Yes. You are now completely healed."

"Ha… Haha… but how? Not even the greatest magician could do it."

"That guy probably only healed your respiratory organ. Or maybe... he just didn't probe deep enough. There are a lot of reasons why a doctor couldn't heal a patient. His reason is because he simply doesn't know what sickness it is."

"… And you do?"

"It's called Tuberculosis. Back in my… place, a lot of people have died due to it. But after a medicine was found, it was completely gone. But there are still some people that accidently got hit by the sickness, but it can still be healed by the medicine."

"What is this... Medicine?"

"I... don't know. I'm not much of a doctor."

"But you just healed an unhealable sickness!"

"My queen, in this world, there is nothing unhealable."

She immediately gasped from amazement. Who is right in front of her... is the Saint Healer herself.

"Oh. And you might want to fix your regular eating schedule. Start eating three times a day, even in the evening. Perhaps inviting your family for an evening dine?

Get rid of all your previous table wares and get a new one. Do not use the same one like before. Clean everything that was meant only for you.

Once you've done all of that, come back here in a week and tell me how you are feeling."

Damn I always wished to be a doctor, but it's kind of boring. Still, being able to heal a sickness like this does make me feel amazing.

I helped someone. This felt great.

"... I understand."

The queen looked like she understood, and she stood up to bow right in front of me.

Khel and the guards are jumped by what the queen did.

"Thank you, Miss Saint healer. I will come back here in a week to report my healing progress to you."

"Haha. Don't thank me yet. And please, don't bow. We are humans."

"You are right. Then I will give you my deepest gratitude."

"See you in a week, then."

After saying that, she turned her back and left the church.
