Chapter 54 - Chapter XXVI - The Queen (part 1)

When I arrived at my inn, it was already way past sundown

With my hungry stomach. But I have to hold it, because I need to change my clothes first. This clothing set was already full of blood and mucus, or basically the serpent's insides.

If I want to buy food, I have to be at least in a clean state. I can't show up to a diner filled with these filthy mucus on me. I went back to the inn and took a bath, then left the dirty clothes in the bathroom to clean later. And it just crossed my mind, why didn't I use the waterproof robe??

After bathing, I changed to my regular attire. The bra, the underwear… I still haven't gotten over those things at all.

Then I went outside and bought some dinner.

.

The next morning, I woke up late again.

It's already way past the first bell, and I hope that Blue adventurer isn't waiting for me. I got up from my bed and stretched my muscles while humming excitedly.

It's high time I learn magic.

I just hope that guy doesn't run away. I don't think he won't, though. Imagine what people think if a Blue adventurer ran away from a debt. Though technically it's not a debt, he's the one who thinks it that way.

And here I'm just using him... Heheh.

But first, I have to know what magic I am convertible with.

I changed to my adventurer attire. Not the one I just cleaned up last night, but a newer, clean set. I really should get a new colour, green and black is starting to get old.

I left the inn after preparing some stuff and went straight to the Office.

The Office is not that crowded today. Hmm… I wonder why. At the receptionist table, Keila is there, but not Klane.

"Hai, Keila. Where's Klane?"

"She is currently out for a business visit to an Office station in the north. She is with the Office Master."

"Ohh…"

I remembered how Klane got very stiff when she was with the master. Maybe she doesn't like him?

"Do you need anything? Klane didn't leave you a mission, though."

"No, I don't think I will do encounter missions today. I want to check my magic compatibility. Is that possible to do here?"

"Well, we do have the tool for that, but it won't be accurate. It can only show one, that is your main element. That's it."

"Oh… that's fine, I guess."

"Okay, please wait a second."

Keila then left to the back to obtain the tool. I looked around the Office.

There are a few people sitting at the diner, right next to it. Currently there isn't anyone waiting in the line for the receptionist. And only one person was looking at the mission board.

What day is this? Why is it so silent here? Sunday?

Oh.

There is a healing act today. I think it's about to start, actually.

Oh my fucking god I forgot about it completely!!!!

I almost skipped my promise. I have to go there immediately after this.

Keila came back after a minute. She brought a flat glass with a circle glass on the upper side. It's a weird looking tool, but I bet it does the job well.

"Put your hands on the big crystal. Then, the circle will show you what element you are. It can only show one, so if you have more than one element, it's quite inaccurate."

"Oh… Okay."

That's fine, anyway. It's not like I want to learn all the elements at once. Just my strongest first.

I put my right hand on the crystal. The small circle crystal started to glow. Then, a picture shows up.

It looks like a symbol for fire. I mean, it's red.

"Fire, Rize! That suits you well."

Keila said excitedly, but I'm still processing things.

"Ehh…? So, that means I can use fire magic?"

"Yep. You just need to learn how to use it first."

Well, that was quick. I have not seen much fire magic being used, but I do remember they are quite underwhelming.

I mean... fireballs, am I right?

"Again, this item like I said isn't quite accurate. It only showed one element of the person's affinity. If you want to test for a higher accuracy, you need to use a more advanced version, but they are quite expensive to use."

"Wow. Then, I guess I will have to stick with fire, for now."

"Yep! Just practice it first before learning another element."

"That's easy. Thank you, Keila."

I pushed the tool back inside the window. Keila took it and put it under her desk to return it later.

"No problem. By the way, today is the Blue ranked test day. I think Jrake and that Light Slayer guy you were with before is taking it."

O-Oh. Today is such an important day, huh?

"Really? That's great. All the best to them."

"I'll get the message to them. The test will take two days, so they will return by... tomorrow maybe? If nothing goes wrong."

"Ah… okay, then. See you!"

"Bye Rize."

I waved my hand and left the Office. Now, the act should start in about a minute or two, so I don't have any time to waste. I enhanced my feet and started jumping very high to the top of a building. People were watching me leap, but I don't care. I'm so late right now.

I have never parkoured on top of buildings before. I saw the scene from Mission Impossible, when the character was chasing a guy, he jumps from building to building. I think that's pretty insane.

And right now, I'm doing even more than him. A single jump I did is at least seven meters high. I landed on top of a house, only to run to the edge and jump again. I took the shortest path towards the church, and it took me a whole minute just to cut a 30 minute walk. I should be doing this more often.

I landed straight in the park, scaring the nuns who were there. Included in the pack is one I am familiar with.

"Oh my god, Rize!"

"Morning, Miss Jen. I didn't miss the healing act, didn't I?"

The Nuns were gathering at the park, as usual before the healing session started.

"Yes. It will start in a bit. There seemed to be a lot more people here than yesterday. They must've come to see you."

Miss Jen reached out her hand and held mine. With begging eyes, she stared directly into my face.

"I wish you could lend us your powers again, Rize."

"That's why I'm here. Where's Khel?"

"Over here!! Let's go!"

Khel's head popped from the gate behind the nuns, then she went back inside. I ran following her to her room underground. She gave me the outfit of the nuns, but this time, she also gave me a veil.

"Veil?"

"You wanted to hide your identity, didn't you? I think by using this, you could at least cover your not-so-rare hair."

I sighed at her. She made a good point.

"I could just use a mask."

"And let people think you are weird? Sure."

Again, she has a point. I nodded to her and went inside her room to change. The veil is really hot, like just trying it out already puts my head a few degrees higher. Can't imagine how those nuns would wear this without getting wet from the sweat.

After changing, I went up. The Nuns are still at the park. I guess it hasn't started yet.

I know the Nuns attire isn't for jumping very high, but I just want to check. If what Miss Jen said is true, that there are more people coming today, I really want to know how much. I jumped to the ceiling of the nearby building, scaring the nuns. I kept on moving until I could spot the line from on top of a building on the western main road.

My eyes became wide seeing the people lining up on the road.

The church is right in front of the market, and the line of people goes all the way till the edge of the market. More than a hundred people have come today to the church to get some healing.

But why? To see me? Is my presence that important? How many people did I even heal yesterday?

Just what exactly was so different about me that so many people came? Perhaps... I'm a viral hit?

I can see a few fancy carriages here as well. Don't tell me rich nobles are also coming…

Now that I have seen the line, I went back to the back park. Khel was waiting on the park, and I landed right next to her.

"Well? What did you see?"

Khel asked me, and I guess she knew my intention from jumping to the rooftops.

"I counted over a hundred people lined up."

"That's three times the normal. They really came here to see you, huh."

"Well, what if I just run now?"

"That would kill the nuns over there, Rize."

"Right. Just kidding."

"Surely, you are."

Khel sat down at the stone stair under the tree. She sipped on her cup of hot tea.

"Hey, can I have a coffee?"

"Sure, but I can't make it for you. You're gonna have to ask those ladies there."

She pointed at the ladies in the kitchen. It can be seen all the way from here.

"Ah, okay."

I stood up and walked towards the kitchen. I said hi to the ladies and asked for a cup of coffee (without sugar). One of them replied happily and told me to give her a second. The coffee that she makes is made using the black coffee beans. Hope the taste is good.

"Here you go!"

"Thank you."

I took the cup from her hands and walked back to Khel.

"You know, a coffee in the morning could be bad for your stomach."

"How is this morning, Khel?"

"This hasn't passed the second bell!"

"Oh… right."

According to the people here, anything below the second bell is morning. So even 11 AM is counted as morning, even though the sun is already above our heads. Well, I guess I can't do anything about it.

I just finished my cup when a nun came to us and told us it's about to start. We both picked up our cups and returned them to the kitchen before going to the front.

As usual, I got partnered up with Khel. But before we started, a nun from the outside came to me and asked.

"One of the press wanted to meet you and-"

"No."

"N-No? They just wanted to talk to you."

"I said no. No press. No papers. Tell them to go away. I'm just here to heal people."

"Oh… okay."

The nun went back outside, and Khel looked at me. I noticed the grin she is wearing and realized exactly what she is thinking.

"You really are worthy of being a hero, Rize."

"Are you twelve, by any chance?"

"Fifteen!!"

She really does not act fifteen...

The first person finally entered the church as I spoke with Khel. I formed a grin at her and continued.

"I'm not a hero. Just being a healer in a church is fine."

I said before sitting down on the usual spot, and Khel sat next to me. As the people started to enter, I made up my mind about how today will go.

This time, I'll be doing it quicker. Yesterday I was using six, or maybe seven balls of light to heal. This time I'll be using fifteen. It will heal them in a second.

"So, what's your issue?"

Khel asked the old bald patient right in front of me, but he was too focused on glaring at me.

"So, you are the saint healer!"

His eyes are looking at me with pure happiness. Or... was it?

"Answer her question..."

I looked at him with a menacing look, and he only looked scared.

"Or are you just here to see me?"

"Hii-! Nonono! I… Look!"

He lifted his left leg's sleeves, showing a small wound on his knee.

"Just this? You can just wash it with water and it's gone."

"Please! This is very painful!"

I looked at Khel with a really questioning face. But, Khel just replies with 'Do whatever you want' face. I nodded at her with a smile.

I healed his wound with one ball of healing, and the wound closed almost instantly.

"Haha! Thank you, sweet beaut-"

...

He stopped talking. Why did he stop talking?

Oh... right. I unleashed too much bloodlust. Sorry, Khel.

"Hiiii---!!!"

He immediately ran outside while being really scared. I let out a sigh and facepalmed while Khel just laughed.

This is the result. My actions of simply wanting to help people... can really result in annoying stuff like this.

"… Next."

A young lady came this time, and I think she is about me and Khel's age.

"Welcome, young miss! What's your issue?"

"I… I wanted to meet the saint healer…"

I immediately put on the questioning face, but she looked really worried and frightened.

"I-I need your help!"

At least her eyes are telling the truth, and that's enough for me, but I need her to explain some more.

"… I don't have time for this--"

"Please! My mother, she couldn't walk anymore! The wound on her leg spreads this black root, all the way to her knee!"

"Khel…"

"Please, help my mother!"

The girl is really trying her best to change my mind, and I only let out a sigh as I thought up a plan. If her mother can't walk, then that means I would have to go there, which means a relocation is required.

Or, perhaps... I don't even need to go there at all.

"Rize… I think we should-"

"No."

I turned to Khel, and I relayed my idea to her.

"Are there Nuns that aren't doing anything at the moment?"

"Yes, the two in the kitchen. They aren't doing anything right now."

"I want you to tell them to go and pick up this girl's mother and bring her here. I can't go to her place, but if she can be brought here…"

"Then you could heal her! Okay! Come with me, ma'am!"

Khel took the girl and ran to the back, and I turned to the nun and priest by the big door.

"Next!"

More patients came, and I had to deal with them without Khel.

Khel came back after a few minutes. She said the two nuns will be going to her house and picking up the mother. By the time Khel returns, I'm already done with six people.

Using fifteen balls is actually quite fast. It was that, or because the people that came here only wanted to see me. Of all the people that came, most of them only carried a slight wound, ones that wouldn't hurt much. My biggest theory is they did the wound to themselves, just so they can come and meet me.

Why the hell would they do that?

"Next!"

An adventurer came in, this time. His body was tired and his hands were covered in bandages.

"Woah. You just did one hell of a mission, pal."

I said to him jokingly, and he only chuckled.

"You wouldn't understand."

He sat down in the chair in front of me.

"Please open your wounds, sir."

Khel said slowly. The adventurer here seemed to be in a bad mood, and his face is grumpy while he slowly opens his wounds.

There are four wounds. In his right hand, his left stomach, the left leg, and his head.

"So, what did you fight?"

I summoned 15 balls, and the area around me brightened up. They slowly heals the top of his head before moving to the next.

"It's… an undead."

"Undead? Like a skeleton or dead human?"

"Skeleton. Their bones are as strong as steel."

"Sure, they are."

And finally, his legs. It wasn't that big, it's only a mere cut at the edge.

"All right, all done."

"Woah... That was fast. Last time I came with a wound like this, it took a very long time to heal."

"Yeah, well... the times have changed. Now go. Other people need some help."

"Ok, got it."

He stood up and got himself ready to leave, but I do realize this guy will only come back in the future if he doesn't learn.

"Wait."

He turned around and looked at me.

"Try not to cut it. But drop it, real hard."

It's a little hint on how to beat an undead skeleton. I wonder If he gets it.

The adventurer ponders for a while, but then he gets it and runs a simulation in his head. He then chuckled and nodded at me.

"Ah… Thanks. I'll keep it in mind the next time I fight them."

He went to the door, and another person came in.

" 'Drop it real hard'?"

Khel asked, and of course she didn't get it.

"The bones on a skeleton are as hard as steel. But, their joints weren't. They couldn't run very fast, and if they fell on the ground, their bones would scatter."

"Oh… That's smart."

"Well, I had some experience myself."

I went to an undead dungeon back when I was still new as a Gray ranked. Hitting their bones was wrong, but I tackled their feet and dropped them to the ground. Their bodies got scattered after hitting the ground.

Hope that information could be useful for that guy.
