The cries, the pleas, the whimpers… everything.
The woman would have never come to know of these things had she not given a certain magic artifact to him as a present designed as a necklace for their tenth anniversary as a wedded couple.
She had given it to him with the intention of keeping him safe – evident by the functions she had specifically picked out for the artificer to imbue into it when she commissioned it.
The first function was for it to deploy a one-time shield that would break after receiving a single all-out attack from one of a half a rank (10 levels) above the wearer.
