"I can't believe Iridessa would leave without saying anything. This doesn't seem like her at all. Are you absolutely certain that everything is okay, Melissa?" Madame Rosaline inquired, leaning back in her chair and fixing Melissa with a doubtful stare.
"Everything is okay, ma'am. She learned that her grandfather is not doing well and couldn't bring herself to tell you, so she asked me to give you the letter instead." Melissa explained, avoiding eye contact with madame Rosaline and focusing on the letter in her hand.
Melissa secretly crossed her fingers behind her back, desperately hoping she had successfully imitated Iridessa's handwriting. She also prayed that madame Rosaline wouldn't notice the difference and realize it wasn't Iridessa's writing.
