Chapter 24 - Meeting a big boss

Needless to say, Bor was extremely shocked. Not just the fact that the bird could write with its head, rather, to what the message it had written implied. Being a virtual world, and with some little tech ability, such heaven defying feat in real life were very much possible.

What was shocking was what this represented. Bor could still remember the last time he saw Susanne. The woman had been in custody, and since he was a no show, she must have faced the music. He had tried not to think of her, feeling hurt that she would stab him in the back.

After the kind of days he had had since then, he barely had time to think of her. Yet here she was, facing him as a bird.

"Come visit." Susanne the bird managed to write on the ground with great difficulty. While it was just a few letters, he could see the strain on the bird. The next moment, the bird just disappeared.

Bor knew what she was asking. Whether he would, he was not decided yet. Still, he had to admit, Susanne had some good contacts, definitely better than he did.

Yawning, Bor loaded some nutrifluids into his solarbed to start the ingestion process. With this, he could kill the hunger and build his body.

While Bor was still idling about, he got a call. It was for his Morendat account. Seeing who it was, Bor was pleasantly surprised. Players in many games could still receive messages and calls from their various games.

"Ayram, how good to hear from you," Bor greeted, happy to see her face.

"Same here. You're the one who's not logged in in so long. How could you," She looked quite pretty, especially when pouting. Bor was almost breathless.

"Been caught up with some things," He lied.

"Whatever, busy man." She playfully took her tongue out and glared at him. "Anyway, when are you logging into Morendat, I have a surprise for you. Also, I am Fortress was wondering when you'll get around to making the stuff you guys agreed on."

Bor remembered all the commitments he had. He was truly a busy man in Game, and despite his suspicions, he still wouldn't want to disappoint his friends.

"I am doing some shopping in Polaris, let's meet up after some time in my shop." Bor lied again. He still couldn't buy anything without proper ID and address.

After some time, Bor finally logged in, only to find an angry Ayram. "The nerve, how courageous you are to keep me waiting."

"Super busy, you know how it is?" Bor smiled as he glossed over Ayram's pissed off expression. "What's the good news?"

Hearing Bor's question, Ayram suddenly forgot Bor's tardiness and beamed like a school girl. "Swordsmith, I have really gone above and beyond for you, even opening doors that are unavailable to myself for you. Am I not such a good friend?"

"Come on, get to the point!" Bor said. He could tell Ayram was enjoying teasing him.

"Ah, is this the thanks I get for all that I have done? Go on then, say you don't want to know! Say it! Say it!"

"I just might," Bor threatened.

"I dare you."

With a sigh, "Sorry, excuse my rude manners. You are such a good friend I don't know what I would do without you, will you please tell me the news?"

"That's more like it," Ayram beamed. "Flattery will get you everywhere."

I wasn't flattering, I was patronizing you!" Bor thought, but he didn't say it out loud. Imagine the trouble he'd get into.

"What are you thinking, why so quiet,"

"Just. Get. To. The. Point."

"Alright, alright. So, the guy I am working with on this project was so impressed with your work, he wants to meet you. He also asked if you were any good at fighting, so after watching some of our adventures, he loved what he saw."

"Who is this guy?"

"All I can say is, he is somewhat famous, so coming here is out of the question. Here, this is the invitation card for the meeting. He requests that you be punctual, so don't be late."

"Hey, isn't it he that wants to meet me?"

"Hah, you don't know. This is the type of person you don't just get to meet any day. Thank your stars that he even has time for you.

In Morendat, Invitation card had the time and place printed on them, plus a countdown to the time. When the countdown hit zero, then the invitation card was active. This meant that it could be used to transport the person's avatar to the venue of the event. It would remain active for the duration set on the invitation card.

Bor had no reason to refuse, so he accepted. The time would be right when he logs in, and it would be active until the time he logged out. There was nothing suspicious about this. This was a routine done by countless others who had day jobs. They would only be active during the recommended minimum solarbed time.

Meanwhile, the two went about working on some of the blueprints Bor had recovered. Ayram still had her huge design to complete, but she seemed to have put that on hold.

"Is the trap set?" A tall handsome man spoke in a monotony.

"Yes, all we can do is wait. We have no way of knowing if or when he will take the bait. He's already seen through her once." The woman had a pensive expression as she answered. The man before her was full of mystery, and for some reason, he was very interested in this man called Bor.

She still did not know what was so important about him, but she was going to get to the bottom of it. Too bad, this mystery guy was another passer-by to be affected by her quest.
