Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Ronin

Hearing the system's notification, Lin Wei was dazed for a couple of breaths before reacting to the system's notification.

'Huh? How did the level the of the Dragon County suddenly increased?" Lin Wei pondered, his mind racing to comprehend the unexpected development. He extended his Spiritual Sense, which he had retracted after reaching the peak minutes ago.

Lin Wei stretched his spiritual sense to the maximum it could reach, investigating the vicinity for any signs of intrusion. After not finding anything, Lin Wei deduced that the intruder who entered the city must be beyond the range of his spiritual perception.

'If only my soul matched my physical strength," Lin Wei mused dejectedly, "I could have likely extend my spiritual perception to cover the entire Dragon Empire. So covering the entire city would have been very easy."

Despite Lin Wei's wish for an unparalleled foundation, both physical and spiritual foundation, the system had only granted him the strongest foundation for his physical body. Lin Wei previously inquired about this, but the system's response was: "One wish could fulfill only one desire," the system explained to Lin Wei. "The host's desire was unparalleled strength, so the system concluded that an unparalleled foundation in the physical realm should suffice to meet the host's requirements."

Back in the present reality, Fang Yulong, still kneeling, carefully look up to Lin Wei. He observed Lin Wei's dazed expression with growing unease.

Gritting his teeth, Fang Yulong reminded Lin Wei of the past, his words humble like those of a servant. "Young Master Lin, although we did use you for personal gains, the clan still treated you kindly for ten years."

Hearing Fang Yulong's plea, Lin Wei snapped out of his dazed expression. 'So what if someone strong intrudes in the city? Does it have anything to do with me?' Lin Wei reasoned with himself.

Seeing Lin Wei emerged from his dazed state, Fang Yulong continued, "Young Master Lin, although we used you for half of the ten years you have stayed in the clan, didn't my clan treated you and your father warmly?"

"We were blinded by our greed, and for that, I deeply apologize. If Young Master Lin can grant us one last chance, we promise to make amends and compensate for all the mental trauma we have caused," Fang Yulong pleaded earnestly, his voice filled with regret.

Despite Fang Yulong's heartfelt pleas, he doesn't know that the fate of them was already sealed. And there is nothing Fang Yulong could do to alter their fate. Well, at least to his ancestors.

Looking intently at Fang Yulong, Lin Wei's cold heart melted a little. The icy veil of his previous murderous intent, slowly vanished. 'Fang Yulong is right,' his thoughts clearing, "I was almost drowned by what I found out, that I intend to annihilate all the of Fang Clan.'

As Lin Wei remained silent, Fang Yulong's unease grew, like a dark cloud looming overhead, casting a shadow over the tense moment.

With a solemn tone, Lin Wei shattered the tense atmosphere, addressing Fang Yulong directly. "Fang Yulong, I cannot forgive you and your ancestors for what you have done—causing my father's death and using me as a pawn."he began, his words measured and firm. Pausing briefly, he took a deep breath before continuing. "I can however, spare your clan. Though I may spare them, you and your ancestors must still face the consequences of your actions."

Hearing what Lin Wei said, as if he were a judge, Fang Yulong's face turn pale. When he was about to defend himself, he heard his ancestor's voice ring inside his ears, "Yulong, stall us some time," the voice of his ancestor commanded, "We have already found someone who can help us deal with Lin Wei, and he is already heading this way."

Fang Yulong's eyes narrowed as conflicting thoughts raced through his mind upon hearing Muchen's voice. "This..." Fang Yulong found himself in a delima. If he were to obey his ancestor's command, then they would truly fall out with Lin Wei and might implicate the whole clan. If he disregards his ancestor's command, their clan would have a high chance of survival.

As if seeing through Fang Yulong's hesitation, Muchen's voice sounded in his ears once again, "Yulong, why are still hesitant?" the voice carried a tone of displeasure, "I've already asked a seniors help, who is likely at the Transcendent Realm, to dispatch of Lin Wei. No matter how talented he is, can Lin Wei possibly reach the Transcendent Realm?"

Hearing his ancestor's words, Fang Yulong strengthened his resolve. His ancestor was right; no matter how talented Lin Wei is, could he possibly reach the Transcendent Realm? Hell with being Transcendent, Lin Wei likely hasn't even reached the Saint Realm, let alone transcendence.

What they didn't anticipate, however, was that their conversation had been overheard from the very start. Despite their efforts to conceal their discussion, nothing could evade Lin Wei's perception. Lin Wei had heard every word, but chose to feign ignorance, patiently awaiting their so called aid.

"Please spare me from any severe punishment, Young Master Lin," he begged, his voice quivering with fear as he gazed up at Lin Wei. "I'm even willing to become your slave, your servant. You can even marry Tong'er. Just don't kill me," he continued, his body trembling under the lingering weight of Lin Wei's spiritual pressure.

Lin Wei merely looked at Fang Yulong the same as before, but deep inside, he was full of amusement at his acting skills. However, the moment he heard his next words, Lin Wei was taken aback.

He couldn't believe that Fang Yulong would truly offer up another one of his children, even if it was to avoid death, but rather to use her as a scapegoat. Despite recognizing it as a mere act, Lin Wei couldn't shake off the disgust he felt towards Fang Yulong. 'Did I actually intend to spare such a despicable father?' he wondered, questioning his own judgment.

....

As the shadow traversed the sky above the north side entrance of Dragon Tail City, around two hundred meters above the ground. Although this height might be challenging for ordinary vision, for Martial Masters, such distances were crystal clear. Yet, surprisingly, no one seemed to be aware of the shadow's presence. Not even the captain of the guards stationed atop the city wall could discern the approaching figure.

"Keke, who would have thought I'd encounter a brat with talents comparable to those Galactic Geniuses?" the shadow laughed eerily. Upon reaching the entrance, he descended to the ground and changed his appearance. Clad entirely in black attire, the shadow transformed into a young man with a devilishly handsome features.

This shadow, who transformed into a young man, was Ronin, tasked with locating the divine. He changed his appearance not only out of fear of offending the divine, but also out of caution.

Walking leisurely towards the northern gate, the young man observed the queue of people, each varying in height and size. Although there weren't many entering through the northern gate, there were more than fifty people in total, split into two lines of more than twenty-five each. Given the speed at which the guards were collecting entrance fees and recording identities, it would take over thirty minutes to process them all.

Not planning to join the queue, the devilish young man directly teleported inside the city walls. Once inside, he observed the civilians. "It had been almost half a day since Lin Wei's breakthrough, yet these civilians seemed unaffected by the tribulation." Ronin mused

After observing for a little while, he located the direction of the Fang Clan and began walking towards it, while at the same seeking out more information about what had happened half a day ago.

Listening to the chatter of the city civilians, Ronin pieced together some incomplete information. He summarized it as follows: the source of the breakthrough was in the Fang Clan, followed by an intense absorption of surrounding energy that extended miles away from the city. This was followed by an earthquake, a surge in spiritual energy, silhouettes of deities in the sky, an even more potent spiritual energy, and finally, an intense pressure accompanying that spiritual energy, after which the civilians fainted.

Hearing the description of the phenomenon. Ronin's cold face frowned. 'Huh? Deities bowing is the natural event when someone is breaking through to the Divine. But, two new types of spiritual energy? I've never heard of some breaking through with two new types of energy' he contemplated. Shaking his head, he thought, "I'll continue my investigation at the Fang Clan. They should know more."

Without any further ado, Ronin vanished, reappearing at the entrance of the Fang Clan. He looked up at the Clan Sign Board before entering through the gate.

Seeing an unknown person attempting to enter their clan, the guards guarding the gate approached Ronin. However, before they could even shout to stop him, Ronin vanished into thin air.

"Huh? Where did he go?" inquired one of the guards.

"I don't know," the other guard began to respond, but before he could finish, his companion called out, "Ring the bells, enemy-" Suddenly, the guard's head inflated like that of a balloon before exploding.

Seeing his companion's headless corpse, the other guard was taken aback, before shouting. But before he could react further, he too met the same fate.

....

"Ancestor Muchen, it's already been almost five minute, where is this aid your talking off?" inquired Fang Jianli worriedly.

"I don't think little Yulong would be able to stall another five minutes" replied Fang Meilin, anxiety visible to her voice.

Before Muchen could reprimand them, a voice sounded in his head. Then he look at his Decendants, "The sir is already here" Fang Muchen excitedly announced.

Hearing that their helper is already here, the five people smiled in joy. "Haha, finally. Lin Wei, your executioner is already here."
