'How did my invisibility barrel go off when I haven't used up the time limit?' Duke pondered to himself, confusion etched on his face. He had been relying on the barrel's protection to finish off the task, but now that it was gone, he felt exposed and vulnerable.
'It must have been Dominique's essence. It withered through my barrier even though it barely lasted for more than ten seconds. Dominique is truly strong. But if Dominique can see me, that means…' Duke's thoughts trailed off as he drifted his gaze onto the creature. The Skarv was now whiffing the air, its nostrils flaring as it sniffed out Duke's blood.
'Oh no,' Duke thought, his heart racing with fear. He pushed himself up, trying to scramble to safety, but it was too late. Now that the creature had stopped being enthralled by the stake, it could finally sense and smell Duke. The creature's eyes locked onto Duke, and it let out a deafening roar, charging towards him with reckless abandon.
