"Nadia," Duke called calmly. "Is it true?"
Nadia's expression turned defiant. "So what if it is? I did what I could, and it always ended up costing me so much more. I saved you all, and now look at the situation I'm in again."
Duke's patience was wearing thin. "Is it true?" he asked again.
"I don't care if I look like the villain." Nadia continued. "I don't regret anything. I would choose to save the people I love over anyone else, even when the world is crumbling around us again and again."
Duke's anger boiled over. "Is it true?" he yelled, his face reddening with rage. Halia flinched at the intensity of his tone, while Rachel smiled, seeming to enjoy the drama unfolding before her
"Yes, it is—" Nadia began, but before she could finish her sentence, Duke's eyes flashed with anger. His double-barreled guns materialized out of thin air, and he aimed them squarely at Nadia.
