Chapter 22 - "He is innocent!"

Stephen had found a rare break between his training sessions. He decided to use this time to examine the book. Excitedly, he reached for the mysterious book he had taken from his old home. Before opening the covers, he watched the surface, which glowed like a purple gem, trying to unravel the secret of this strange object. As he ran his fingers over the book, a beam of light suddenly emanated, leaving him stunned. The purple gem on the book began to glow intensely.

Fixing his eyes on the book, he tried to open it, but to no avail. Thinking that the gem's glow might help, he tried again, but the book didn't budge. Just as he was about to give up, the book suddenly opened by itself. The pages turned slowly, without any wind, and a sentence written in golden letters appeared: Finally, I could reach you, my master.

In the amazement of this extraordinary event, Stephen wondered what secrets the book might hold. But for now, he focused on experiencing this mysterious moment in front of him.

As if a sword wasn't enough, now there's a book too?

Don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble, as long as you can manage to keep me hidden.

Stephen looked at the book in astonishment, a breath escaped his lips, a sound that couldn't quite express his bewilderment. The golden letters shining among the pages seemed to be responding to him directly.

Did that book just read my mind?

His eyes widened, a flood of questions swirling in his mind. Would this book bring more challenges than his sword? The answers were probably hidden among the pages, but how easy would it be to uncover them was unknown.

As Stephen stared at the book in amazement, it responded again with writing: Yes.

While the book continued to wait silently, Stephen's thoughts flowed with it. This was not just a book, but a sentient entity. It seemed to have infiltrated the depths of his mind, perhaps even reading his thoughts. This idea created confusion within Stephen. However, for now, he needed more information to understand what this mysterious entity wanted and how to coexist with it harmoniously.

The pages of the book began to turn on their own, without Stephen needing to make an effort. As he watched this extraordinary event, he tried to comprehend what was happening. But when the pages reached the middle of the book, they suddenly stopped.

On the middle pages, golden letters shone brightly, giving the impression of being read aloud in a deep voice. Stephen had a feeling that the power within the book was this mysterious entity. However, he still didn't fully understand what it was.

At that moment, with the golden letters that appeared in the middle of the book, a sense of power surged. Stephen felt as if he was under the spell of that moment. This mysterious book wanted to tell him something. But Stephen knew he needed more information to fully decode this message. He fixed his eyes on the pages, determined to unravel this mystery.

When the seed of darkness sprouts again,

White and Grey will open their eyes again.

White will struggle with every breath,

Oppressed for simply breathing.

White did not bow, and will not bow.

He will even stand against his cousin Grey.

White stood against the Blacks, and always will.

But he too will become Black, unwillingly.

As Stephen finished reading the mysterious writings in the middle of the book, his mind was in turmoil. Who were White and Grey? Who were the Blacks? At first, he thought it referred to races, but he realized there was no race representing Grey. Maybe these writings were pieces of a puzzle.

Taking paper and a quill, he began to write down the lines from the book. But strangely, each time the paper tore on its own. Frustrated, he decided to write on a board, but the quill suddenly broke.

Stephen believed these events were no coincidence. The book was trying to tell him something, but ordinary tools like paper and quill were insufficient for this communication. Perhaps the answer lay within the book itself. But for now, he needed more time and thought to solve this mystery.

It seems this book doesn't want me to write it down anywhere, but at least I can try to memorize it. What if it erases it from my mind too?

When Stephen tried to hide the book, the closed book unexpectedly opened on its own. Watching it unfold, Stephen eagerly began to turn the pages, excited to uncover its mystery.

On that page, a new message appeared in golden letters. Stephen fixed his eyes on this mysterious text, trying to absorb every word with excitement. Maybe this message could give him a clue about the mystery.

Dark Power

This magic is similar to control magic but has different aspects. It is a newly emerged magic known only to those who serve the Dark Lord. This magic is a soul-capturing and controlling spell. It is created through a combination of potions and manual incantations, and it seizes a person at their weakest and most manipulable moments. The person affected by this magic begins to serve the Dark Lord unwillingly. While serving, their magical power and energy are also drained. This absorbed power and energy are used to resurrect the Dark Lord. The only way to break free from the spell's effect is through the Amaranthinos spell, which can only be performed with the Justice Sword. Amaranthinos is a word from the ancient fairy language and is an ancient spell meaning "soul purification." Once this word is uttered, and the sword touches the person, they return to their original state and do not remember what they did under the influence of the Dark Power.

Stephen thought the book implied that the Justice Sword was telling the truth. However, when he tried to close the book, it unexpectedly did not close. Instead of puzzling over this, he decided to set it aside.

The next training session would be with Albert, and Stephen considered showing him the mysterious book. But for a moment, the book's warnings came to mind. Perhaps the book would cause trouble in this regard. However, he dismissed this thought. Albert worked in the organization and had extensive knowledge of magical objects. Not showing it to him would mean not taking advantage of his expertise.

Stephen was determined to show the book to Albert. But he also wondered how Albert would react to this mysterious book. Maybe they could solve this mystery together.

Stephen decided to go to the training area before the session started. Albert sometimes arrived early and did his work there. When Stephen arrived at the training area, he stepped inside and saw Albert. They exchanged greetings, and then Stephen got to the point.

When he pulled out the book and showed it to Albert, Albert's eyes immediately focused on the book. He examined the writings with curiosity, a look of confusion on his face. Stephen tried to read his thoughts, but Albert's expression was an unsolvable enigma.

With Albert's questions, Stephen began to explain how he found the book. There was a mysterious air around them, with questions and curiosity evident on both of their faces.

Stephen said, "When I visited some acquaintances, it was on the table. One of their family members had been arrested for serving the Dark Lord. I think it was his book. They said they didn't use it anymore and gave it to me." There was a hint of concern in his voice.

After listening to this explanation, Albert looked on in astonishment and said, "This is the book the organization has been searching for a long time. We don't even know its name or how it works. That's why everyone calls it the Magic Book. But it's said to contain all the knowledge in the universe."

"Can we trust this book then?"

Stephen felt a wave of trust wash over him as Albert nodded affirmatively. Albert's nod reinforced his belief in this mysterious book. Suddenly, he bid Albert farewell and quickly set off for the prison.

Upon arriving at the prison, he immediately asked the guards for the location where Prince Sam's execution was to be carried out. After getting the information, he ran swiftly to the gallows. Prince Sam was about to be hanged, and Stephen shouted at the last moment to stop them: "Stop! He is innocent!"

Everyone looked at Stephen in astonishment, but Stephen had suppressed his doubts about Prince Sam's innocence. At the moment of execution, unexpectedly, Edward was also there. With the appearance of his son, Stephen reached a moment of decision.

Edward looked at his son in surprise and then, with a stern expression, asked, "Why should we stop? Wasn't he the one who tried to kill you?"

"He was under the control of another power when he did that. It wasn't his own will."

After Stephen's words, Prince Sam, who was about to be hanged, looked at him in astonishment. There was confusion and hope in his eyes. Stephen's defense of his innocence sparked a glimmer of hope within Prince Sam. Maybe he really had been under the control of another power, maybe it wasn't by his own will but forced upon him.

Prince Sam had struggled to cope with his complex emotions, thinking that Stephen disliked and blamed him, but now he regretted having thought that. He didn't understand why he was being executed; he only remembered the moment he opened his eyes in pain next to the royal physicians. But now, with Stephen's defense, he felt a glimmer of hope—maybe justice would be served.

"Do you have any proof?" Edward asked, looking skeptically.

Stephen handed him the Magic Book he was holding. He felt an intense energy from the book's atmosphere, which caught his attention and made him look at it in astonishment. Edward examined the book carefully, then turned to David standing beside him and ordered him to summon Albert immediately. Everyone's eyes were now focused on the mysterious book and the anticipated arrival of Albert.

David quickly teleported to the training ground and informed Albert that Edward had summoned him. Albert then teleported to the site, respectfully bowed to the king, and Edward handed him the book. Albert took a deep breath as he examined it.

"I sense a great energy from this object. Do you know what it is?" Edward asked.

"This is the Magic Book, Your Majesty. It was once protected by the organization but was later stolen by the servants of the Dark Lord. It is said to contain all the knowledge of the universe," Albert explained.

Edward listened carefully to Albert's explanation and fell into deep thought. "Can we trust it?"

Albert spoke boldly, "According to your son, this book describes the same spell he used to restore Prince Sam. And he always said he remembered nothing," he said. Sam's face showed a mix of astonishment and hope. Hearing Albert's words, Sam briefly glanced at Albert and then turned his gaze to Edward.

Upon hearing Albert's words, Edward commanded the executioner to release Prince Sam and unbind his arms. As everyone awaited the King's order to be carried out with a mix of tension and curiosity, the executioner followed Edward's command and freed Sam's arms.

When Sam's arms were freed, he felt a mix of surprise and joy. He looked at Stephen with gratitude, the expression in his eyes reflecting inner regret. Sam was genuinely remorseful for spreading rumors about Stephen.

At the training ground, everyone exchanged glances, stunned by the moment's unfolding. The mysterious book had unexpectedly altered Sam's fate. Now, everyone had the same question on their minds: What doors would this book open for them?

After being freed, Sam faced his brother Edward. Edward gave Sam a threatening look and said, "I'm freeing you, but don't think it's because I believe you're innocent. I'm doing this for my son. My trust in him is absolute. But know this—I still have my eye on you."

Sam nodded in acceptance of Edward's words. Edward's resolute expression and words highlighted how uncertain Sam's future was. However, the relief of regaining his freedom made him feel good.

As the king moved away from the area with his guards, Stephen also began to leave with them. But Sam stopped Stephen, wanting to say something. Stephen approached Sam, curious about what he had to say.

Sam sincerely thanked him: "Thank you. I didn't expect you to do such a great favor for me. I thought I would be left to die while not even remembering what I had done."

Stephen responded with a smile to his sincerity: "You're welcome. The Sword of Justice chose me, and I'm trying to be worthy of it. No matter what, I will stand by the innocent."

After an emotional farewell between Stephen and Sam, Stephen left to prepare for his training. Behind him, Sam remained with his mind still confused by the events he had experienced. However, he was filled with a sense of hope and gratitude. He was now free and had seen a glimmer of hope. He knew this experience would open a new chapter in his life.
