Chapter 10 - "It's time to meet the other members!"

Stephen wandered through the castle garden as if he were in a fairytale, memorizing the perfect scents of the beautiful flowers with each step he took through their vibrant array. For Stephen, this garden was like a paradise. It was the garden his father had built for his late mother, the queen. King Edward did not like to enter this garden often because it reminded him of Layla and the memories they shared, causing him to become emotional. Nevertheless, he ensured the garden was maintained every year. This garden was filled with Layla's favorite plants, with flowers sprouting among the stones in a decorative style that suited her taste. Amber loved to walk around and find peace in this garden. Apparently, her brother felt the same way. After a long and exhausting sword-fighting training session, he enjoyed coming here to relax and feel rejuvenated.

Stephen had only held a sword a few times in his life, and each time it was the Sword of Justice. However, he had never managed to use it properly. Despite it being his first lesson, his instructors had recognized his potential and praised him. Their facial expressions revealed just how skilled he was. When Stephen heard their words, he was filled with pride. At that moment, he understood that a sword was not just a tool but also an expression of art and discipline.

"The prince did exceptionally well for his first training session. That surprised me."

"His handling of the sword was excellent. It was as if he had been a warrior in a previous life, as if he already knew."

"Of course, if there were such a thing as reincarnation. It's probably a skill imparted by the Sword of Justice."

These words further motivated him. He had already chosen his favorite training: sword fighting.

Stephen was sitting under the shade of a tree, slowly gathering his energy. As he decided to walk around, he was filled with a sense of his mother's presence beside him; however, he knew nothing about her. When he had gone missing, Layla had also passed away, so he had never seen her alive. He didn't even know the cause of her death and was too hesitant to ask others. His only idea of her came from portraits. Layla seemed to be slightly plump, with eyes just like Stephen's. Her facial features were generally similar to Amber's. With these thoughts in his mind, he wandered through the garden, trying to connect with his past.

While wandering, Stephen noticed a detail he hadn't seen before: the number of tables had increased. His father must have realized how much his son loved this garden and had special tables made for him. One of the servants approached with a tea tray and adorned the table with sweets. Despite the hardships of being a prince, enjoying such special privileges was quite delightful. Spending time at these tables, specially prepared for him by his father, made him feel special and valued. Eating the sweets and enjoying the garden's view from the table was a pleasure in itself. In this moment of enjoyment, he felt timeless peace and happiness.

David approached with firm steps and said, "Your Highness, your training is about to start."

Stephen asked in surprise, "When does it start, Uncle David?"

David replied seriously, "In 15 minutes, sir. Your Majesty instructed you not to address the staff like that. The King has commanded me to correct you whenever you use the wrong form of address."

Stephen was a bit shaken by David's words and began to reconsider his attitude. David's face still showed signs of sadness, worried that even small matters could tarnish the prince's reputation. He knew very well that the castle staff, especially the nobles, loved gossip. However, Stephen had not grown up in a noble family, so adjusting to this social system was taking time. Although he didn't fully adhere to the conventions of nobility, he tried to stay true to his own values. In this process, he was trying to understand both himself and his surroundings better, progressing on his journey of self-discovery.

"I'm sorry, I'm still getting used to it. It feels strange for people older than me to address me this way," Stephen said sincerely.

David understood his concern and responded, "You'll get used to it soon, Your Highness. I should also mention that your next training session is magic training." These words made Stephen's eyes light up. Today was going to be a big day for him because he would meet the Chosen Ones, his new teammates. This meeting was an exciting new beginning for him.

"Thank you for the information," Stephen said politely. David seemed confused, as he left quietly without getting a reaction from Stephen. It was possible that David was preoccupied because all the castle's responsibilities had been placed on him. Stephen didn't mind this and proceeded to his room to get ready. His mind was filled with excitement about the upcoming magic training and meeting the Chosen Ones. A new chapter was beginning for him, and he was ready to face it with enthusiasm.

Stephen quickly got ready and walked briskly to the magic training hall. When he opened the door, the room was empty, but he could hear a crowd outside. Looking out the window, he saw Albert with many children who seemed to be around Stephen's age. He immediately went outside to join them. Everyone had found a seat and was chatting with Albert. As soon as Stephen arrived, everyone greeted him respectfully. After reciprocating their greetings, he wanted to find a chair to sit, but the others intervened. They gave him the most ornate seat, filled with sweets and prominently positioned. Stephen looked around with eyes full of astonishment at this gesture. He thanked them sincerely and sat down. Everyone respects me so much, he thought. Although this thought embarrassed him a little, it also filled him with a sense of pride.

As Stephen carefully observed everyone at the table, he recognized two familiar names: Aina, Agnes, and Harry. Aina and Harry seemed as cheerful as the others, but Agnes had chosen a stoic expression. It seemed that no matter what Stephen did, Agnes would not be pleased with him. While he was still trying to adjust to this environment, someone else familiar approached the table: Amber. Once again, everyone greeted her respectfully. Albert said with a warm smile, "Welcome, Your Highness. It is an honor to have you. Your unexpected arrival is a surprise to us."

"Thank you. It was a surprise for me too, I wasn't expecting it," Amber said sincerely.

Sure it was, thought Stephen. He had already figured out the reason for Amber's arrival. Albert, on the other hand, was curious about her reason for coming but did not dare to ask. After a moment of thought, he understood. Perhaps the prince was still not accustomed to these types of environments, and Amber had come to assist him. However, Stephen had a different theory. Amber slowly approached Stephen.

"Brother, Father said it would be better if I stayed here. I'm supposed to keep an eye on you," Amber said, and for some reason, this statement bothered Stephen. He felt like he was being watched constantly, as if under surveillance. Stephen believed he was mature enough to handle things on his own. With a slight frown, showing his discomfort, he said, "So you didn't beg to come here, did you?"

Amber was not expecting such a response from her brother, so she was surprised. "You seem tense today. Please calm down," she said, trying to soothe Stephen.

"I know very well why you came here, Amber. But I wish your excuse wasn't this. Anyway, I won't stand in the way of your dreams."

Stephen's words to Amber heightened the tension in the room. Albert, though unable to hear what they were discussing, sensed the tension. Worried, he asked, "Your Majesty, are you all right?" Stephen took a deep breath and tried to compose himself. The tension within him was a reflection of his inner conflicts. Deciding to be more careful and understanding, he regained control.

"I'm fine, Mr. Albert." Albert accepted Stephen's response, maintaining his silence and trying to soften the atmosphere in the room. "I hope you always stay well."

As Stephen struggled with the pressures in the castle, he tried to keep himself under control against the outside world. Amber's presence evoked complex emotions within him, but the only outward appearance was a calm demeanor. Stephen felt used.

At the table, Harry, who had been silent for a long time, finally stood up and respectfully greeted both Stephen and Amber. "With your permission, I think it's time we introduce ourselves to each other, sir," he said. Albert nodded in approval. "We met before, but it was a rushed introduction. I would like to properly meet you again."

Harry's action broke the silence at the table and softened the atmosphere. Stephen and Amber smiled and greeted him in response to his courtesy. Harry's polite and elegant demeanor eased the tension in the room and sparked a desire to get to know each other better.

"I agree," said Stephen.

"Then let me start. I'm Harry Lowis. I'm 19 years old and from Glairus. I'm the son of the headmaster of a famous fairy school in the capital, Atrea. My magic element is Light. Even though this is our second meeting, I'm as proud to meet you as I was the first time."

Harry's posture was upright and exuded confidence, as if ready to face any challenge that might come his way. His brown hair, slightly long and curly, gave him a natural charm. His sharp facial features reflected his determination and inner strength. His hazel eyes held depth and wisdom, his gaze full of meaning and sharpness. His lips were slightly full, and when he smiled, a sincere joy spread across his face. Despite being of average height, his presence was always noticeable, drawing attention with his charisma and energy. Despite all these features, there was an innocence about him, and his pure and well-intentioned soul was evident in his eyes.

"Is there really such a country? Well, how many countries do I know besides Rivelia, the one I live in?" Stephen felt as if a storm had broken inside him after hearing that last sentence. He was a crown prince and didn't even know his magical element yet. How could he admit that he hadn't discovered his magical element? Even Albert, the magic master who trained the princess, had struggled to sense his magical element, and had said that he would work on it with special training later. Stephen didn't want to be embarrassed in front of people. But now, he had to face his own inadequacy.

Stephen looked around, filled with inner turmoil. He saw the sincere expressions on the faces of the others at the table. However, he had to face the facts and accept his own shortcomings.

"Your Majesty, if you wish, you can introduce yourself collectively after we have introduced ourselves," Harry said. Stephen felt relieved after hearing this sentence. However, a sense of unease still lingered. After all, he would have to introduce himself sooner or later. But he accepted the offer anyway.

With Harry's suggestion, the others in the room began to introduce themselves. Stephen listened carefully as each one introduced themselves, trying to gather information about their tone of voice, emphasis, and body language.

"I'm Maria Meriall. I'm 18 years old. I was born and live in the country of Ochea. Unlike the other team members here, I have a simple life and I'm the daughter of a blacksmith. My mother is a magic teacher in Mirlenas. My magic element is water. Pleased to meet you."

Stephen could tell from Maria's appearance that she possessed the water element. Typically, those with the water element were known for their warmth, but she didn't give off that vibe. She seemed rather cool and composed. Her broad, naturally attractive lips gave her a mysterious allure. Her eyebrows were pronounced and striking, giving her face a strong expression. Her nose was slightly pointed, harmonizing well with her round face. There was a slight blush on her cheeks. Her ocean-blue eyes carried a sense of adventure and wisdom in their depths, captivating anyone who looked into them. Her jet-black hair reached her shoulders, adding a rebellious touch and enhancing her mystery. Despite her average height, she always stood out in a crowd, exuding a strong presence that reflected her leadership qualities.

"I'm Ralph Rawkin. I'm from the country of Morthias. I'm 18 years old. I'm the son of a potion merchant, so I believe I have more knowledge about potions compared to others. My magic element is earth. It's an honor to meet you, Your Majesty."

Ralph's introduction added another layer to the diverse group of individuals around the table. Stephen took note of Ralph's confident demeanor and the sense of respect he conveyed. The introductions were helping Stephen understand the unique backgrounds and skills of each team member, making him feel slightly more at ease despite his own uncertainties.

Ralph's thin lips, thick eyebrows, and brown hair contrasted with his fair skin, giving him a natural charm. He always carried positive energy, affecting those around him with his humorous demeanor and warm sincerity. Ralph, being naturally social, felt comfortable in any environment and could easily communicate with people. His good sense of humor brought joy and pleasure to those around him.

After Ralph sat down, another boy with a cold and confident expression stood up. His thin lips were almost pale, adding a touch of natural mystery. His ice-blue eyes, filled with a cold depth, evoked curiosity, and his gaze had an intriguing allure. His hair was so light blond that it appeared white, giving him a mystical and enigmatic aura. His sharp nose and fair skin completed his elegant and striking appearance. His eyebrows were prominently straight, adding strength to his facial expression. His cold and mysterious demeanor both intrigued and attracted those around him. The nobility and grandeur of his attire made Stephen even more curious about this boy.

"I'm Aaron Jacques. I'm 18 years old. I'm a prince and a crown prince candidate of the country of Ostrium," he said with a sly smile. There was a paternal air about this boy, which made Stephen uncomfortable, though he didn't show it. However, he was also glad to find another prince among the Chosen Ones. If he could manage to befriend Aaron, which seemed difficult, he could receive help from him. "My magical element is cold and ice," he added, quickly sitting down as if in a hurry. Albert didn't seem to like this boy either. I doubt he can become a crown prince if he throws such condescending looks at another country's prince.

With Aaron's introduction, the atmosphere in the room became tenser. Stephen didn't like Aaron's attitude but tried not to show it. Aaron's mention of his cold and ice magical element worried Stephen a bit. He thought about the potential conflicts between those with different magical elements. However, he took care not to let these thoughts show.

"I'm Agnes Thyphainne. I'm from Flamea and I'm 18 years old. I'm the daughter of a duke. As you know, my magical element is fire," she said, quickly sitting down like the boy before her. It was as if she had been forced to stand. Albert, noticing this, tried to warn Agnes with a disapproving look, but she didn't seem to care much.

With Agnes' introduction, the atmosphere tensed once again. Stephen watched her carefully. Her quick sitting and disregard for Albert's warning increased the tension in the room. Her mention of being a duke's daughter caught Stephen's attention. He hadn't thought she could be noble. There were too many nobles among the Chosen Ones, which seemed strange to Stephen. However, he made sure to keep these thoughts to himself and continued listening to the other introductions.

"I'm Aina Nakashima. I'm from Floria. I'm 18 years old. I possess the nature element, and I'm the daughter of a healer. Pleased to meet you," she said.

Her surname intrigued Stephen. He had never encountered such a surname before. After everyone had introduced themselves, it was Stephen's turn. It was clear that everyone in the room was eagerly waiting for this moment. Stephen, with his inner conflicts, finally stood up and began to speak, though it was challenging.

Stephen's movement drew the room's attention to him. Everyone was curious to hear the prince's words. As Stephen tried to express himself, he struggled with his indecisiveness and worries. However, he was determined to perform his princely duties with dignity.

"I am Stephen T...," he almost said his old surname but corrected himself, "Peterson. I just turned 18, and as you know, I am the heir to Rivelia," he said, feeling Aaron's scrutinizing gaze upon him. The curiosity in Aaron's eyes made Stephen a bit nervous, but he didn't show it.

"My magical element is..." Amber quickly whispered to him, "Creation and Light." Stephen felt a wave of relief upon hearing Amber's quiet prompt and quickly continued, "Creation and Light," he repeated.

With Stephen's introduction, the room's attention once again focused on him. Everyone's eyes were attentively listening to the prince's words. As Stephen tried to express himself, he suppressed his inner anxieties and spoke with determination. "I'm pleased to meet you all," he said, looking around with a friendly smile.

Stephen's introduction softened the atmosphere in the room a bit, creating a more sincere environment with the others. Everyone in the room received the prince's introduction positively and became more willing to communicate with him.

"A powerful and rare magical element," Albert said skeptically. When did this boy's element emerge?

"Yes, it is," Amber replied to Albert. She, aware of her brother's lack of knowledge about magic, changed the subject to draw attention to herself. While introducing herself to the other members, she didn't forget to mention her own knowledge of magic and achievements. At the same time, she displayed a genuine and sincere attitude towards the others in the room.

At first, Stephen was annoyed by Amber's behavior, but now she seemed like a savior to him. Amber continued the conversation, and after a bit more chatting with the members, they left. There was no training that day.
