After making sure no one was around, Aunt Phoebe cast the invisibility spell on them again. The two of them then quickly made their way back to the car, creeping silently along the alleyways while avoiding random bodies and trash lying on the ground.
Luna propped her elbow up and leaned her head on her hand, her forehead resting on the cool glass of the window. "I'm ready for a good solid eight hours of sleep."
Aunt Phoebe chuckled, her voice sounding tired, and there were deep, dark circles under her eyes. "Ten."
The drive back home was quick and filled with silence after that. Luna, who was barely staying awake, nodded off a few times, her head hitting the glass window with each sharp turn or rough bump in the road.
"Come on, Luna dear. We're home." Aunt Phoebe gently shook her awake.
Luna rubbed her eyes before climbing out of the car. She came to a pause after entering the house when she saw a familiar white-haired man sitting in their parlor that was situated by the front door. The cream-colored suit he wore had a small silver pin pinned on the chestal area. The pin was of a sword wrapped in large angel wings-the symbol for the High Council Elder members.
"Ah, you made it here fast," Aunt Phoebe commented upon seeing Elder Jackson.
His soft-looking lips carved up into a gentle smile, and his drooping eyes closed. "Of course, I came; you called, after all."
When had Aunt Phoebe called him? Had it been during one of the times she had dozed off in the car?
Aunt Phoebe shook her head, her lips twitching at the very puppy-like answer from the puppy-like man. "We found your furies." Aunt Phoebe then took out the cores that the two of them had gathered from out of her clutch.
Elder Jackson took them from her. "Thank you. I assume both of you are unharmed?" His eyes looked over them as if searching for any unseen injuries.
"We are." Aunt Phoebe answered after clearing her throat, her gaze focused on something over Elder Jackson's shoulder.
Luna decided to edge away, trying to distance herself from the parlor room and the awkward atmosphere that seemed to blossom between her Aunt and the Elder. But before she could leave, Elder Jackson's next words had her pausing, stopping her from making a quick retreat.
"Luna," Elder Jackson directed his next words to her. "One of the members has recently come to me with a concern of theirs. They suspect that a Witch Hunter might be parading around at your school disguised as a teacher."
"What?" Aunt Phoebe asked, her voice strict and demanding with her question, causing Elder Jackson to flinch.
A Witch Hunter? Luna felt her chest squeeze and her blood turn cold. A cold sweat formed on her forehead and lower back.
Witch Hunters were normal humans, with one exception that is. They were given the ability to hunt down and kill witches.
"Do you know who it is?" Aunt Phoebe demanded, stepping closer to Elder Jackson.
Elder Jackson gave a stiff nod of his head. "It hasn't been confirmed yet, but their suspect is Mr. Traskey. I believe he is one of Luna's teachers?."
"What?! The hot one?!"
Elder Jackson turned wide eyes onto Aunt Phoebe. "The hot one?" He mumbled under his breath, a slightly hurt expression crossing over his face.
Mr. Traskey? That's the same teacher that Carl was suspicious of!
"Aunt Phoebe, Carl was also suspicious of him. He even had Kwon warm me."
Aunt Phoebe's expression returned to normal. "Right. Well, it doesn't matter what he looks like, a Hunter is still a Hunter." Aunt Phoebe then turned her eyes onto Luna. "I don't want you using any magic while at school." She then turned back to Elder Jackson. "What were their reasons for suspecting him?"
"A keychain with the Witch Hunter's symbol on it," Elder Jackson answered immediately.
Aunt Phoebe narrowed her eyes. "That's not much evidence. We'll just have to have Luna be careful around him."
Elder Jackson nodded. "I plan on posting someone there to keep watch."
Aunt Phoebe raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow. "And who do you plan on assigning there? Last I heard, the High Council was seriously understaffed."
Elder Jackson hung his head in shame, a dejected look on his face. "I'll think of something," he mumbled before teleporting out in a swirl of white lights that were shaped like feathers.
Luna was finding herself jealous of that particular power that all beings with Holy Blood in them possessed. It was such an impressive power that could make life so much easier. It could also be used as a means to quickly escape from a dangerous situation.
Aunt Phoebe shook her head, clicking her tongue loudly. "I guess I won't be talking you into dosing that Mark boy with more love potion."
"What?!" Why was that one sentence more shocking than what she heard during Aunt Phoebe's and Elder Jackson's conversation?
Aunt Phoebe had wanted her to give even more love potion to Kwon?! Why?! Didn't Aunt Phoebe always preach about using magic discreetly and about how one shouldn't toy with other's emotions because it was morally wrong and that it could backfire?!
. . .Not that Luna could say anything. She had, after all, tried to change Adam's feelings against his will by using magic.
"I was going to convince you to dose that Mark boy again so that he wouldn't become suspicious after the effects of the love potion wear off." Aunt Phoebe explained with a long dragged-out sigh.
". . .Oh," was all that Luna could manage to say. She hadn't been expecting her aunt to encourage something so reckless and responsible. . .but it did make sense.
If Kwon went from hating her to liking her then back to hating her, he was bound to become suspicious. He might not be able to correctly guess the reason for his sudden emotional change, but it causes him to observe her more, which could lead him to discovering the existence of magic.
. . .Or it could cause him to increase his hatred toward her and cause the bullying to become worse.
Luna shook her head with a groan. This was one mess she didn't know the answer to. She decided to revisit this problem after she had a good solid eight hours of sleep.
