Chapter 162 - Chapter 162 - A Former Criminal now a Double Agent for Russell

Third person POV

Later in the late afternoon, at his estate home, Russell, Azalea, and Ria are cleaning the front yard when someone was calling from the front gate. Hearing that, the three of them went to the front gate to check who is calling them, only to be taken aback by a familiar face. It was the one whom the scammers of Fernlay City had hired to kill Russell less than a year ago. His name is Loukas Artyom, and he was just released from prison a few days ago. This former assassin-for-hire had been searching for Russell for two days and had just found his residence from a neighbor in the Outer District. Loukas was tall and slender and had dark red hair and purple eyes; he also carried a bow and a quiver of arrows wherever he went but still kept his assassin dagger.

"Greetings, youngster," Loukas said to him with positive humility.

"Wait, do I know you before?" Russell asked back while staring at him. "Have we met before?"

"Yes, I was the one who was hired by the scammers to assassinate you," responded Loukas. "My name is Loukas Artyom, a former assassin-for-hire from Ionawood City. Nice to meet you."

The 24-year-old man then kneeled on one knee to Russell for a few seconds as a gesture of respect.

"Oh, so that's your name," Russell replied back. "Well, nice to meet you, Artyom-san. My name is Russell May, a Renad."

"Woah, no wonder with your strange occupation as a…what was it again? I forgot what people called you by your occupation."

 "You mean bus driver?"

"Ah, yes, that one, wasn't it?"

 "Yes."

"Well…I am here to work for you, for I have changed for the better. I am no longer an assassin-for-hire. But rather…I can be your messenger and spy if you want."

 "Woah, what?" Ria was stunned.

"A messenger and spy for Russell-kun?" Azalea asked.

Rai, Kelly, and Masha are inside the house cleaning the second floor at this point.

"Yes, you may assign me to a different job," Loukas replied briefly and calmly to Russell. Or, if you don't want to hire me, then you can call me if you need any help."

Before Russell would say anything back, Loukas continued, "Also, I knew some insider knowledge of an organization known as the Square Order of the Squirrels that you might be interested in."

Russell and the two girls were stunned to hear that.

 "That organization?"

Loukas then nodded. "Yes, I was a former assassin-for-hire for them, killing their dissenting ex-members and sending threats to anyone."

"Oh…" Russell responded back, now knowing Loukas' history and former affiliation.

He then thought for a while, before eventually deciding to hire him as his messenger and spy.

Russell did so, and Loukas was more than happy to hear that.

However, Loukas said to Russell that he didn't need to pay him because he would just look for a side job to earn his own living.

"Oh, um…are you sure about that?" Russell was stunned for a bit. "You can ask me for money if you need it."

Loukas then shook his head. "No need. I'll make a living by having a side job. I'll be fine."

As of now, Loukas was an AA-ranked assassin and archer at Level 36.

Out of respect for the lad who, less than a year ago, was a criminal, Russell accepted it.

And so, Loukas became his messenger and spy, planning to spy on the Square Order of the Squirrels while acting as an agent to them so he would pass his latest info to Russell. Also, Loukas decided to live in Russell's estate for the time being until he would find his own place to live. Russell accepted it in respected his decisions. After all, his estate's huts for serfs had been long empty.
