Chapter 129 - Chapter 129 – The Defeat of the Elai Party and Russell’s unconventional, yet practical weapon

Third person POV

"What was that?" Russell asked again. He then looked at his hands, trying to look for any clues for that unexplained phenomenon, before moving his right hand. This caused the floating metal door to move according to his hand's movement. James, who was in awe, then said to Russell, "Dude, that was so awesome! If I am not mistaken, it was called Metal Manipulation!"

"Huh? What?" replied Russell while glancing at him.

"That ability you have is called Metal Manipulation. It is a metal-based ability of manipulation. It allows you to control metal as you wish, from bending it to reshaping it. It is an S-ranked ability."

Upon hearing that, Russell was stunned with amazement and thought that it was cool.

"Man…" his mind said, "…another S-ranked ability for me."

But, Elai didn't become shocked for long, and she commanded her Flaming Phoenix to try to attack Russell again.

Her Phoenix then did so, prompting Russell to use his newly discovered ability to hit the beast.

It did the trick, and Russell jumped high, grabbed his metal door shield, and swung it around like a baseball bat, hitting the Flaming Phoenix and sending it flying toward the sky.

And then, the Flaming Phoenix fell to the ground defeated before dissipating into thin air.

As Russell was back on the ground in action and holding his shield, Elai's party was shocked that their party leader's summoned beast had been defeated by a normal-looking adventurer. The reason is that they knew that Elai's Flaming Phoenix was strong and formidable. It was so formidable that it is said that it made demons bow before it and surrender. But at this time, their assumption was debunked by Russell's Metal Manipulation ability and skills using his metal door.

The sight of the Flaming Phoenix flying towards the sky, as well as its growling noise of being in pain, had caught Nicholas' attention. In response to that, he commanded 4 of his royal guards to come with him to the site of that happening. 4 of his 7 accompanying guards did so, and they and the crowned prince rushed to the scene as fast as they could. The May party also noticed that Nicholas and 4 of his guards were leaving their campsite all of a sudden and ran after them, being curious about what was going on. Nathan and Azalea then rushed to the scene as well.

Back at the fight, the Elai party still couldn't believe that they had been defeated and couldn't fight back by it. Elai then fell on her knees in despair of being defeated by Russell. "No way…how did I, an SS-ranked hero, lose to a mere F-ranked adventurer and bus driver like you?"

The last part of her statement was directed at Russell.

Hans and Aeri are down and injured while Belius can't recover from the shock of seeing his older sister being defeated by Russell.

"That was so cool!" Russell responded to his own offense with enthusiasm.

The young bus driver then looked at Elai coldly and seriously. "As for you, I am not an F-ranked adventurer."

He then pulled out his bus driver's license and showed it to her. "I am an AA-ranked free adventurer and bus driver here."

At this point, most guild ranks had added AA, AAA, BB, BBB, CC, and CCC ranks for Renads because their skills were too small to be detected and determined by the old ranking systems.

After Russell had put and tucked his license back into his uniform's outer business suit, James then ran to him and complimented his efforts of not just unlocking his Secondary ability, but also of defeating Elai's Flaming Phoenix, too.

"Yeah, thanks, James," responded Russell back nicely and gratefully.

But then, Elai snapped out of her despair and didn't want to give up so she held her Flaming Sword and charged at Russell. Russell then held his unconventional, but theoretically practical shield and weapon and dodged it before knocking her unconscious in the back of her head. As Elai collapsed to the ground unconscious, Belius was shocked but became angry at Russell for doing that. The water mage then retaliated with his Water magic, only for James to fire some printer, washable ink at him. This derailed his attack, and Belius was now down on the ground. Russell saw that and was stunned to see him covered in ink. "Um, what is that thing?"

"Oh, it's just printer ink," answered James back with positivity.

"Are you sure about that thing sticking and staining his body and clothes and everything?"

"Don't worry, it is washable, so it can be washed away with water easily."

Russell was dumbfounded by it but considered that as awesome.

And so, the Elai party was defeated by Russell May and James Kuehne, and Russell and James shared a hive-five for their teamwork. Aren, who had been watching their fight the whole time while sitting on a tree branch, was disappointed that the Elai party had failed him but went with it because it was a part of his deceptive plan.
