And so, the process of turning red coffee beans into roasted, ready-to-grind ones had begun. Rai and Ria will do the processes while Micah explains what they are. First, the May party's beans were washed in clean, cool water and had their red skins removed using a crank-powered skin-removing machine, which removes the red skins in just seconds. The May party was amazed to see them.
After that, the beans were dried in the hot afternoon sun for 2 hours. In those two hours, the May party had a teatime and a series of conversations with Micah and his twin workers. After two hours of drying, the coffee beans are now ready to be roasted in a pan by Micah. The roasting was hot, and the aroma from it enticed the May party very well. Russell liked it because it reminded him of his previous life. Back in his previous life, he loved the aroma of coffee his parents used to make for him every single day.
After half an hour of roasting, the beans are now ready to be ground into a filterable powder that can be filtered into black coffee. So, Micah put them into a small sack and gave it to the May party. "Here you go. This is how coffee beans were turned into roasted ones that can be made as drinkable coffee. You're welcome." Russell then accepted it with gratitude. "Thank you so much, Micah-san."
"You're welcome, sir," Rai said to him and his party.
"We are happy to help you, too," Ria added positively.
"Also, you can get some guidance from a coffee brewer in town if you want to turn them into coffee powder," Micah added in suggestion.
"Oh, really?" Adrian asked.
"Yes, I know one such brewer," Micah replied back. "Her name is Danica, and she was a top coffee brewing expert."
Because of that, the May party accepted it.
"Okay then."
"That's good to hear." Micah smiled. "You can visit her in her café near the market district."
With that, the May party left the place as Micah, Ria, and Rai wavered them goodbye and good luck.
But, the sight and kindness of Russell had left a mark on Rai and Ria, who are now slowly falling for him.
At the same time, a threat was flying above the town clearly looking for someone or something.
But what was it?
Later, at 4:25 p.m., the party is back at the market district searching for Danica's café. Then, they managed to locate and find it, which is a small café with a pleasant exterior and a nice business sign in the front. The wooden sign says, "Danica's Coffee Center". This indicated that the business is a center of coffee and coffee drinking in town.
"Do you think this is it?" Azalea asked.
"Well, the name is the same, so yeah," Russell replied back.
And so, all of them went in.
Inside the rustic and nice interior, they saw its environment and environmental noises. Manual coffee grinders emitted noises as they crushed coffee beans for customers. The aroma of the coffee filled the place, and customers and patrons engaged in coffee time and chats. The staff under Danica are busy handling orders for new and upcoming customers. The party was amazed, before walking up to the counter, which was managed by Danica.
Upon seeing them, Danica greeted them, "Hello there, welcome to Danica's Coffee Center, where we process and make coffee at its finest potential. Are you here for a cup of coffee?"
"Hello, good afternoon," Russell replied back nicely and politely. "Are you Danica, right?"
"Yes, I am."
"Okay then, we're here to have our coffee beans grinded and made into a drinkable beverage, please."
The young bus driver then placed his sack on the wooden counter.
Seeing that, Danica opened it, revealing the newly roasted beans.
She was astonished and asked the party how they acquired it.
The party then revealed to her how they did it.
Shortly thereafter, Danica was impressed, so she said to them. "Okay then, I'll do this for you." And so, she grabbed the sack and started working on turning the beans into powder. First, she crushed them using one of the manual coffee grinders, which took a little time to do it. After that, she gathered the now crushed beans into a bowl and prepared a metal jug for coffee and a special paper filter made specifically for filtering coffee powder. She did so as the May party watches in observing and learning.
Then, she poured the coffee powder into the funnel-shaped paper filter and poured that with hot water. This causes coffee to be filtered, and the hot liquid coffee passed through the paper filter and down the metal jug, leaving the powdered beans behind on the paper filter. The May party was amazed to see it, as well as smelling the aroma of it. And finally, once she had removed the filter, Danica poured the hot liquid into ceramic cups, before asking the party if they wanted any milk and sugar into their cups of coffee.
"Yeah, sure," Russell answered nicely.
Azalea and Adrian nodded, while John didn't because he doesn't drink coffee.
With that, Danica added some milk and white sugar into the coffees of Russell, Azalea, and Adrian, before mixing them for a few seconds.
She then served them to them. "Here you go."
"Wow, thanks a lot," Russell replied gratefully as he, Azalea, and Adrian accepted the cups of hot coffee.
Danica then smiled. "You're welcome. You may pay for the service after your coffee time here."
She then gestured to a vacant table for four.
Seeing that, the party said thank to her again and went to that table. There the four of them sat down, with John sat on the chair fully with its legs and hands on it. And so, Russell, Azalea, and Adrian took a sip of their hot beverage, and they tasted it so good and full of flavor.
"So good!"
"The taste of it is so aromatic."
"Man, our visit in this town is so good!"
John was happy that they enjoyed their coffee time greatly.
But meanwhile, the flying threat was just around the corner near the town.
